Please join us on November 7-8 for our 1st Annual Maryland Therapeutic Riding Virtual Pony Trot! All proceeds from the Maryland Therapeutic Riding Pony Trot will benefit Maryland Therapeutic Riding (MTR), an award winning therapeutic horseback riding center that has served participants throughout the state of Maryland since 1996.
Registrants will run (or walk) the race distance at any location they choose (treadmill, neighborhood, local park) on the weekend of November 7th and November 8th. If you are participating in the 5K and would like to be listed in the results make sure you are tracking your time and distance. You can do so with a watch or running app (example: Garmin watch, Strava App). Make sure you run the whole distance (3.1 Miles for a 5K) - you don't want to do all that work and come up short. You will then be able to report your time. Results will be automatically updated as race times come in.
$35 through 10/23/2020
Registrants will receive a unisex t-shirt. Sizes and availability of race shirts cannot be guaranteed after October 8th.
*Entry fees are non-refundable.
5K Runners will be able to submit their results through text or email (if opted in) or through the runsignup.com results page on the weekend of November 7th and November 8th. You must run your 5K (3.1 mile) race during this time period to be listed in the official results and be eligible for overall awards. If you have questions about submitting results don't hesitate to reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are pleased to offer the following in-person packet pickup for the MTR Virtual Pony Trot 5K:
Friday, October 23rd, 2020 from 3PM-7PM
Maryland Therapeutic Riding
1141 Sunrise Beach Rd.
Crownsville, MD 21032
We hope that you will come visit us and see the location first hand. All packets not picked up at this Packet Pickup Session will be mailed to registrants.
Please wear a face covering upon arrival, and maintain 6ft of space between other people waiting in line.
Awards will go to the top female and top male overall as well as the top youth female and top youth male finisher (age 17 and under)
If you intend to compete for time-based overall awards you will need a method of recording your time and distance - a GPS watch, phone app (MapMyRun, Strava, etc.), or a treadmill. To maintain the integrity of the competition as best as possible all award winners must submit photo proof of GPS/run data to verify time and distance (photo of treadmill with time & distance, photo/screenshot of run tracker, etc.). Award winners will be emailed when the results submission period closes and asked to reply with their photo/screenshot. You must run the full distance of the event you selected in order to qualify, so for our purposes that is 3.1 miles for the 5k. If a performance cannot be verified, the award will roll down to the next participant.
Maryland Therapeutic Riding (MTR) is an award winning therapeutic horseback riding center that has served participants throughout the state of Maryland since 1996. Our mission is to improve the quality of life of children, adults, active military and veterans by connecting humans and horses in a healing environment. The services offered here at MTR address a wide range of physical, cognitive and emotional challenges and give our participants hope through their partnership with our incredible herd of horses, therapists, instructors and volunteers.
We also understand that special needs families often have higher than average medical expenses, therefore we offer our services at only 20% of the actual cost to us to provide them. This means that we must fundraise 80% of the cost. We rely heavily on our community of supporters and also on events, such as this one, to allow us to continue our mission to provide equine-assisted activities and therapies to the special needs community!
