Outrun ALS 5 Mile Run/1 Mile Walk

We are thrilled to announce that we will be professionally timed by Racine Multisports for our 2021 event!! 

Race Day Registration from 7 - 7:45am! Come break your PR on this fast out and back rail trail course! This event takes place at Station Plaza of Canal Place in the historical Downtown Cumberland, MD. Run/Walk starts and finishes in this location while the course takes place on the beautiful Great Allegheny Passage. A water station will be provided by the gas station in the Narrows for runners to have on the way up and back. 

PRIZE MONEY for Overall Top 3 Male & Female finishers!! 1st: $250;  2nd: $150;  3rd: $100.  Male/Female Masters winners will receive a $25 gift certificate to RunningWarehouse.com. Prizes to Top 3 Male/Female winners in the following age groups: under 13, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+. 

We'll give you an extra $50 if you beat our course record! Male Record: 26:16 (2019); Female Record: 32:57 (2016)

Proceeds from the race (after expenses are deducted) will first be donated to local warriors in need of assistance for home improvements, cost of treatment, etc. If there are no warriors at the time of the race, proceeds will be donated to the Washington DC/Maryland/Virginia chapter of the ALS Association, Our 2019 event was able to raise $6,000 for a local warrior! Unfortunately, no cure exists for this disease, nor a treatment that stops or reverses it. Half of all people affected with ALS live at least three or more years after diagnosis. Twenty percent live five years or more. Up to ten percent will live more than ten years. According to the alsworldwide.org, annual care for an ALS patient surpasses $200,000. Together, we can make a difference!
