Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic we have made the decision to cancel our 5K for 2020. While we're optimistic that by the time our 5K date would come this year we will all be back to normal we know that it's better to be cautious and safe for all of our participants and volunteers. But the good news is that we are already booked at Fairgrounds Park for Rock the Run 5K 2021! We'll be back on April 24th, 2021 for our Pirates vs Princess 5K and Kids One Mile Fun Run. Go ahead and mark your calendars now! Until then, keep following us on Facebook and keep checking back on our website for any updated info. We hope each of you are safe during this crisis. Thank you for your interest in Rock the Run 5K 2020 and we'll see you at Rock the Run 2021!!!!

Our Rock the Run 5K started in 2015 as a way to not only celebrate the 60th Diamond Anniversary of The Hope Center at Hagerstown Rescue Mission but also as a way to bring the community together to help raise support and awareness for the homeless and hungry in our community.
We didn't hope to just celebrate a major milestone in our community, but also, give our community a fun way to be a part of the next 60 years of The Hope Center in Hagerstown. Each year we've succeeded in accomplishing our goal by bringing businesses, runners, walkers, competitors, and volunteers together to have fun, share some laughs, run a few miles, and raise money for those in need. And we know this year won't be any different!
We are encouraging our participants to have some fun with costumes and accessories and show us your pirate or princess side! We'll be making this event a little more exciting with some pirate & princess themed touches to everything. But most importantly we just want you each to have fun because you're supporting a great cause and doing something amazing for our community. So start talking it over with all your running friends, encourage others to join you, and then grab that eye-patch, tiara, and your running shoes for Rock the Run: Pirates vs Princess!

The 2020 course will take each participant through some of the prettiest parts of Hagerstown. Starting at Fairgrounds Park, the course hugs beautiful Pangborn Park meanders through beautiful tree-lined streets in the North End and continues down historic Potomac Street where gorgeous homes and churches overlook the course. This is a wonderful course that is perfect not only for experienced participants but for beginners as well. But don't go at it alone...remember to invite your friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors to join you for Rock the Run!
Since we started Rock the Run 5K in 2015, the end goal was to raise support and awareness about those in our community who are homeless and hungry. Since 1955, The Hope Center has never closed its doors and is now the longest continually operating shelter in Hagerstown. In addition to providing shelter for the homeless, The Hope Center continues to provide multiple daily meals for anyone of any age in the community as well as being a part of the Washington County Food Bank Program. It is our goal to make sure that no one in this city is hungry. So participating in Rock the Run: Pirates vs Princess is just another way for our community to help those in need.
And this year, you can really help in a big way as we are in the beginning stages of a much-needed refurb and expansion of our dining room and kitchen. We can feed a lot more people and do it more efficiently with a renovation that will double the size of the current space. By participating in this race you're helping us make improvements that will allow us to serve and help so many more people in our area as we continue the fight against hunger and homelessness.

As in past years, we'll have donation boxes available for anyone who brings non-perishable food for our pantry. Food donated will be used in food bags to be distributed to hungry families, soup line and other free community meals served daily, meals for our residents, or any other special activity that takes place at The Hope Center for our community guests. Everything we provide is free of charge because of generous people like you!
In keeping with our Pirates vs Princess theme, we're extending the friendly competition to our food drive where we'll have designated boxes set up for Pirates and separate boxes for Princesses. Pick a team, get your costume and then hit the store to pick up some items for our food drive.
