2020 Tartan 5K Run will begin and end on the campus of Highland View Academy. Highland View Academy is located eight miles east of Hagerstown, Maryland at the base of South Mountain, a section of the Blue Ridge Range. Within view of campus, Black Rock Mountain rises in wooded splendor on the Appalachian Trail. The Tartan 5K Run will start and finish at the Administration Parking Lot of Highland View Academy located at 10100 Academy Dr, Hagerstown, MD 21740. The course itself will take you both on the campus of Highland View Academy and the nearby Mt. Aetna Retreat Center. Preferred parking is at the Highland View Academy Church parking lot to the right as you enter the campus entrance (especially if you plan to leave while others are finishing the run). Start at the Highland View Academy Administration Building parking lot. Head North on Academy Drive.Turn left on Academy Terrace and run clockwise around Barr's Hall (Café). Return to Academy Drive.Turn left on Academy Drive and run down to entrance signs. Turn around at signs and run up to Academy Lane. Run past Dennison Water/Aid Station in front of Principal's house.Turn left on Academy Lane and run up small hill (just past fallen gate turn around). Run back to Academy Drive, passing Dennison Water/Aid Station once more.Turn left on Academy Drive and then bear left on Academy Terrace toward DaVita Foods. Follow road as it bears right and then left to Cu-de-sac for turn around.Turn left on Academy Drive and head to finish line at HVA Administration Building parking lot.
Proceeds from the run benefit worthy students in their quest to obtain a quality Christian high school education. Over 60% of the current student body receive scholarships for them through the Worthy Student Fund. Students come from not only the local Hagerstown area but also nationally from the states like Delaware, Maryland, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia and internationally from countries like Brazil or China.
