Othello Park Including Forest of Needwood - Field Trip #3

Whether or not you’re signed up for the Forest of Needwood virtual race, you can experience the race course.  The route includes a mile warm-up from Othello Park to the start line.  Next you can choose to race or leisurely stroll the 5 mile race course, followed by either a return to your car after a mile cooldown or continue onto St. Mark’s Rd for an out and back to finish your long run.

About Field Trip Runs
Fieldtrip runs are fun, challenging country road runs for experienced runners.  It is not a training program.
Fieldtrip runs will take place outside of town, up to 30 miles from the center of Frederick.  

• The terrain will be road but some gravel is to be expected.
• There will be significant elevation.
• Runners must be alert and move off of the roadway when vehicles pass.
• Be prepared to encounter animals, wild and domestic, during a run.
• In addition to a personal supply of water and fuel, each runner should carry a cell phone. 

COVID Precautions

• Familiarize yourself with the FSRC Group Run Policy.
• Fieldtrip runs will be limited to 10 people or less (this is due to limited parking areas, characteristics of the roadways and personal distancing).
• When meeting (at the parking lot, trailhead, etc.) follow social distancing guidelines and wear a mask.
• Water stations or refreshments of any kind are not permitted at this time. Runners should carry and supply their own water.
• Masks should be used when outdoors and unable to consistently maintain at least six feet of distance from individuals who are not members of your household.
• Please do not congregate after a workout.
• Do not participate in group running if you are feeling sick or ill, have a fever, or if you have been in contact with someone unrecovered from COVID-19.
• Persons from high risk groups for COVID-19 complications should consult their physician before participating in group activities.
