New Market STRONG Fighter Run/Walk/Stroll

Sign up today for the annual New Market STRONG 5k Fighter Run/Walk!  This event is to honor Karen Durbin who served New Market as Town Clerk for over 14 years and was a friend to many in Town. After a long battle with breast cancer, Karen passed away in November 2020. Our goal is to raise funds and awareness to fight breast cancer as a tribute to her.

Join us Sunday, October 6th, when you and fellow fighters will run/walk/stroll a 3.1 mile course through the historic town of New Market and adjacent neighborhoods. For our competitors, this race will be officially timed by Racine MulitSports. This event is family and dog friendly; all ages and abilities are welcome! Want to bring Fido with you?? Sure! Just make sure he has a leash on.

You can sign up and raise money as a TEAM in honor or support of a loved one battling breast cancer. In addition to prizes for individual winners, we'll have prizes for the team with the most members, most funds raised and most spirit on race day. So gather your pals, think of a fun team theme and raise funds to fight cancer together!

Race entry fee is $25 until August 31st, $30 from September 1st through October 5th and $35 to register on the day of. A race shirt is optional and will cost an additional $5 fee. The 2024 shirt is only guaranteed to people who sign up before September 12th. All participants who pay for a 5K Fighter Run shirt will receive one, but only people who sign up before September 12th are guaranteed the 2024 version. 

Check-in and same day race registration begins at 8 AM. Race starts at 9 AM sharp. 

Free Parking is available on Main Street, the Community Park and behind 39 W. Main.

This event is a non-profit, self-funding event organized by volunteers. 100% of the funds raised and donations of goods and services are used to host the event and make a donation to the Hurwitz Breast Cancer Fund, a local non-profit 501(c)(3) who partners directly with Frederick Health Hospital Cancer Center. The amount we donate has steadily increased over the years - the 2023 New Market Strong resulted in a $8,050.07 donation!!!
