Angel Park – a new all-inclusive playground and amphitheater facility in Perry Hall, MD has a very real and personal meaning to members of our community. The name was purposely chosen to represent a vision of an ideal setting for happiness and reflection.
Angel Park began from an idea that came to Kelli and Andy Szczybor after the loss of their baby boy, Ryan. From a sad origin, a bright and life affirming idea emerged – to build a place for laughter, activity and fun, for families and friends throughout the surrounding neighborhoods.
Angel Park incorporates the designs and ideas of local children and artists. It was built and supported by the community and provide a unique destination to be enjoyed by all families for years to come. It’s more than a memorial park; it’s a special place for children, families and friends.
WHAT IS A VIRTUAL RUN AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
Registrants will run (or walk) their race distance at any location they choose (treadmill, neighborhood, local park) between August 12th and August 18th. If you are participating in the 5K and would like to be listed in the results make sure you are tracking your time and distance. You can do so with a watch or running app (example: Garmin watch, Strava App). Make sure you run the whole distance (3.1 Miles for a 5K) - you don't want to do all that work and come up short. You will then be able to report your time. Results will be automatically updated as race times come in. You will also be able to share your photos on social media by using the following hashtag: #AngelPark5K2020.
1 Mile Walk: $30
*We plan on having a Packet Pick-up on August 30th at Angel Park. (please note this date has changed). If you would rather have you race materials shipped to you, you are able to choose that option during registration for an additional $5.
Entry fees are non-refundable.
5K Runners will be able to submit their results through text or email (if opted in) or through the runsignup.com results page from August 12th through August 18th (11:59 Eastern Time). You must run your 5K (3.1 mile) race during this time period to be listed in the official results and be eligible for overall awards. If you have questions about submitting results don't hesitate to reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Top 3 overall male and female runners
If you intend to compete for time-based overall awards you will need a method of recording your time and distance - a GPS watch, phone app (MapMyRun, Strava, etc.), or a treadmill. To maintain the integrity of the competition as best as possible all award winners must submit photo proof of GPS/run data to verify time and distance (photo of treadmill with time & distance, photo/screenshot of run tracker, etc.). Award winners will be emailed when the results submission period closes and asked to reply with their photo/screenshot. You must run the full distance of the event you selected in order to qualify, so for our purposes that is 3.1 miles for the 5k. If a performance cannot be verified, the award will roll down to the next participant.
Each day we will have different theme. We will be doing drawings for prizes for each of the following age groups for male and female: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-29, 30-39, 40-49 50+.
All prizes and awards will be electronic gift cards this year.
