The 13th Annual 2019 Get Ready! Get Set! Get Fit! 5K Run-Walk and 1 Mile Walk to support older adult health and fitness will be held on the campus of CCBC Essex. This location is easily accessible to I-95 and I-695 and has plenty of parking. The event, which is perfect for novice and advanced runners alike, starts at 8 a.m. and all roads on campus will be closed at that time. Registration opens at 6:30 a.m. with health and fitness screenings and free massages starting at 7:30 a.m. The 5K race, which is professionally managed by Charm City Run, attracts participants of all ages who run and walk the course. Medals are given for the fastest three male and female 5K finishers overall, as well as the top three male and female runners in all age categories. The 1-Mile Fun Walk is perfect for our youngest and oldest participants. Door prizes, including a total of $500 in Fitness Pays Grand Prizes sponsored by Van Dyke and Bacon Shoes, will be awarded (must be present to win).
Participants receive a complimentary long-sleeved performance T-shirt (guaranteed up to the first 1,150 registered, sizes not guaranteed), water on the course and post-race refreshments. Trophies will be awarded for largest team, most money raised by an individual, best team spirit and most money raised by a team.
Register at packet pick-up at Bykota Senior Center on September 20th or at CCBC Essex on September 22nd.

Registration Opens: 6:30 a.m.

The event will be held rain or shine. In inclement weather, all activities except the 5K course will be held inside the Wellness Center. There are no refunds if participants are unable to attend after registering.
Race course roads will close at 8 a.m. The 5K start will be in front of the Wellness and Athletics Center. The one-mile start will be near Parking Lot 2. The majority of the route will be on the campus of CCBC Essex with a small part on King Avenue.
For safety reasons, the race course is closed to animals, bikes, skaters and baby joggers or strollers. Water will be provided on course and at the finish line.
All pre-registered runners will receive a long-sleeved performance T-shirt (sizes and availability not guaranteed for day-of-race registration), water on course, entry in door prize drawings (must be present to win) and post-race refreshments. To celebrate "National Falls Prevention Day", "National Senior Center Month", and "Active Aging Week," free fall prevention, health and fitness screenings will be offered, as well as vendor tables and displays.

5K Awards and Door Prizes
5K awards provided for the top three men and women overall, and top three men and women finishers in the following age groups: 15 and under, 16 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, 70 to 79, 80 to 89, and 90 and over. Trophies will also be given to the largest team, most funds raised by a team and most funds raised by an individual.
Random door prizes awarded including the Fitness Pays Prizes sponsored by Van Dyke and Bacon Shoes. Must be present to win.
Build morale and form a team from your senior center, company, social club, family or friends! Being part of a team is fun! You'll build camaraderie and community while raising much-needed funds for senior exercise classes and fitness centers in Baltimore County. Team members receive all the benefits of individual race participants plus early packet pick-up. We encourage you to wear T-shirts displaying your team, center, company name or logo on race day and compete for the Team Spirit Award.

CCBC Essex is located off Baltimore Beltway (695) Exit 34 (Rosedale). At Exit 34, turn onto Maryland Route 7 (Philadelphia Road) heading towards White Marsh. Proceed one-quarter mile and turn left onto Rossville Boulevard. The campus is approximately one mile on the right adjacent to the Franklin Square Hospital Center. Turn onto College Drive North. Proceed and make right turn onto Division Lane.
