The St. Michaels Running Festival has been one of the premier destination races in the Mid-Atlantic since the inaugural event in 2012. Based in one of the oldest waterfront towns on the Chesapeake, runners will be treated to small-town hospitality, great SWAG, and a rockin' after-party right on the water!

If you wish to pick up someone else's packet you must present their pre-race email that contains their QR code. We appreciate your cooperation with this.

 

BIB MAILING OPTION

If you are participating in the in-person race and can not make it to the race expo, or if you simply prefer having the convenience, you may choose to have your race bib and shirt mailed to you. The fee for the bib mailing service is $20 per person. The bib mailing option will close on April 24th at 11:59 pm.

Please note: Virtual participants will have their race packet mailed to them automatically at no additional charge.

Expedited Bib Mailing Option

There is an expedited bib mailing option available for purchase on the RunSignup registration page for $30. The expedited bib mailing option opens on April 25th and will close on May 1st at 11:59 pm. 

If you are already registered and would like to add expedited bib mailing to your race entry, CLICK HERE to log in to your RunSignup account. Select “Manage Registration” next to the St. Michaels Running Festival, then “ADD-ONS” at the top of the page. 

PLEASE NOTE the expedited bib mailing option will not be available until April 25th.


BEER BRACELET

Each registrant in the half marathon, 10K, and 5K who is 21+ receives one complimentary beer at the post-race party. We also offer a beer bracelet as an add-on during registration which entitles the wearer to “unlimited” alcoholic drinks at the post-race party. The bracelet costs $15 when purchased online or at any packet-pickup, or $20 on race day. Bracelets are non-transferable, and SMRF reserves the right to deny service to anyone who appears intoxicated or cannot produce photo ID when requested.

HALF MARATHON

This race is one of only two Maryland events recognized in the TOP 100 HALF MARATHONS IN THE USA! Our course is beautiful and built to help you reach a new PR. The first mile takes you past downtown St. Michaels – one of the most picturesque waterfront towns in the region. Once you pass main street, you will be treated to expansive views, waterfront communities and country lanes as you wind your way back towards the downtown area for the finish line celebration.

PACE GROUPS

SMRF has pacer groups available for the half marathon. Our pacer team will help you hit your goal time without the trouble of monitoring your GPS all morning! Plus, what could be better than running with a group of people shooting for the same time goal as you? Just look for the pacer sign in your assigned corral and join the group.

 

10K RUN/WALK

The 10K route starts at the St. Michaels School complex and finishes right in the center of downtown St. Michaels. Runners head right down main street for the first mile before turning down gentle country lanes. You’ll make the Mt. Pleasant Landing loop and take in a few stunning water views before heading back to town and the finish line located in the center of St. Michaels. Finish your run by celebrating at the waterfront after party with live music!

The 5k route leads down gorgeous country lanes, traverses our breathtaking rails to trails runners path with water views and finishes right in downtown St. Michaels at the runner's after party.

Jogging strollers are permitted for the 5K and the 10K. They are not allowed for the half marathon.

 

VIRTUAL RACE INFORMATION


We have created a virtual race option for those who would like to participate but are not local, or do not feel comfortable attending an in-person race at this time. Here's how the virtual race works:

1. Register for the virtual event, and sign up for text or e-mail notifications
2. Your race swag will be available for pickup at our pre-race packet pickups, or can be mailed to you.
3. You'll receive a text or email (if you opt in) when the race "starts" on May 14th.
4. Run your race and submit your results either by text message or email (if you've opted in) or by heading to the results page here by May 15th at 11:59 PM Eastern Time. Results update in real time as people submit their times. Be sure to take a selfie/photos and share on the runsignup.com photo page or post on social media with the hashtag #charmcityrun #smrf
5. Sit back and enjoy your accomplishment!

Virtual race performances are not eligible for the overall event awards, but we'll certainly be acknowledging the winners in our post-race communication.

 

AFTER-PARTY

After the race please join us at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum for the post-race party! Live music, food, and beer are included in your entry fee, and you can't beat the waterfront view! Shop for official race merchandise and relax with friends after your race - you've earned it!

 

AWARDS

Awards will be given for the in-person Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k as follows:

  • Top three overall males and females (based on gun time)
  • Top male and female masters (based on gun time)
  • Top three males and females in the following age groups (based on chip time): 14 and under; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70 and over.

There is NO double dipping! Awards will be presented at the post-race party, so be sure to check your results on RunSignup and stick around if you’ve earned an award! Missed the ceremony? You can have your award sent to any Charm City Run store at no cost, or mailed directly to you for $10.

Are you ready to race a Half Marathon in St. Michaels? 

All paces and faces are welcome! If you plan to cross the St. Michael’s finish line, there’s a place for you in our training groups. Your training group will meet twice a week with a supportive group and expert coach, following COVID guidelines to keep everyone safe. In addition to weekly workouts, training registration includes a Charm City Run training premium, weekly training plan, and education on running-related topics (such as nutrition, hydration and injury prevention) along the way.

Refund, Deferral, Transfer, and Cancellation Policies

 

As we continue the return to racing in 2022, we want to be completely transparent with our policies regarding refunds, deferrals, and cancellations. If you are interested in signing up for this race please read this section carefully prior to registering. All interested participants will be shown these policies during the registration process and must agree to adhere to them in order to be admitted to the event.

REFUNDS

Race registration fees (and the processing charge from RunSignup) are not refundable. These funds are used to pay for race premiums, permits, supplies, staffing, and other costs incurred before, during, and after the event is held. To be consistent and fair to everyone we cannot make exceptions to this policy.

DEFERRALS

We offer the option for registrants to defer their entry to the following year's event based on Charm City Run's General Deferral fee schedule:

  • Until April 30, 2022 (2 weeks prior to race day) - $15.00
  • May 1, 2022 - May 13, 2022 - $30.00

Registrants may request a deferral of their entry by emailing events@charmcityrun.com. Please note that if your materials have been mailed to you, the deferral option is no longer available.

TRANSFERS

We offer the option for registrants to transfer their entry to another eligible participant up to May 13, 2022. After this deadline passes we are unable to allow transfers as race materials have been prepped for the event. Again, to be consistent and fair to everyone we cannot make exceptions to this policy. Registrants may transfer their entry to another registrant by going into their profile on runsignup.com and choosing "Manage Registration" next to the race.

CANCELLATION

2020 showed just how unpredictable our world can be, and the running industry was certainly no exception. We know that it's important to have as much information at your disposal when making a decision whether to sign up for a race or not, and we want you to know exactly what your options will be should the 2022 in-person race not be able to take place as originally planned. Our regular cancellation policy found here covers scenarios that could prompt the cancellation of an event including weather, local emergencies, public health emergencies, etc. If you have any questions about our cancellation policy please email us at events@charmcityrun.com PRIOR to registering.

DOWNGRADES & UPGRADES

If you would like to downgrade to a shorter race distance you can make that change through your RunSignup account. Log on, click “Manage Registration” next to the race, click “Transfer Event,” and select the relay. Please note: you will not receive a credit or refund for any difference in price paid.

If you would like to switch to a longer distance race, you can follow the same steps above. You will be charged any difference in registration fee from when you originally signed up to the current price.
