The St. Michaels Running Festival has been one of the premier destination races in the Mid-Atlantic since the inaugural event in 2012. Based in one of the oldest waterfront towns on the Chesapeake, runners will be treated to small-town hospitality, great SWAG, and a rockin' after-party right on the water!

Here is how it works:
1. Register online for the St. Michaels Running Festival.
2. Receive a unique referral link via your confirmation page and email.
3. Share this link with your friends, family or post on social media.
4. After 5 registrants sign up using your unique referral link you will automatically receive a refund of your registration fee.
On-site race registration will be available at the expo near the start area on Friday, August 20th from 3:00pm to 8:00pm, and, Saturday, August 21st from 5:30am to 6:45am.
Distance upgrades and downgrades are available online and at the expo. To upgrade your distance (5k to 10k, 5k to half marathon, 10k to half marathon) registrants will pay the difference between their original entry fee and the prevailing fee for the new distance. There is no fee to downgrade your distance (half marathon to 10k, half marathon to 5k, 10k to 5k).
PLEASE NOTE: Selected size for shirts cannot be guaranteed for any registration made after Monday, August 1st.
If you are participating in the in-person race and can not make it to the race expo, or if you simply prefer having the convenience, you may choose to have your race bib and shirt mailed to you. The fee for the bib mailing service is $15 per person. The bib mailing option will close on July 31st at 11:59 pm.

Expedited Bib Mailing Option
There is an expedited bib mailing option available for purchase on the RunSignup registration page for $30. The expedited bib mailing option opens on August 1st and will close on August 11th at 11:59 pm.
If you are already registered and would like to add expedited bib mailing to your race entry, CLICK HERE to log in to your RunSignup account. Select “Manage Registration” next to the St. Michaels Running Festival, then “ADD-ONS” at the top of the page.
PLEASE NOTE the expedited bib mailing option will not be available until August 1st.
Each registrant in the half marathon, 10K, and 5K who is 21+ receives one complimentary beer at the post-race party. We also offer a beer bracelet as an add-on during registration which entitles the wearer to “unlimited” alcoholic drinks at the post-race party. The bracelet costs $15 and can be purchased online or at any packet-pickup (including race day). Bracelets are non-transferable, and SMRF reserves the right to deny service to anyone who appears intoxicated or cannot produce photo ID when requested.
This race is one of only two Maryland events recognized in the TOP 100 HALF MARATHONS IN THE USA! Our course is beautiful and built to help you reach a new PR. The first mile takes you past downtown St. Michaels – one of the most picturesque waterfront towns in the region. Once you pass main street, you will be treated to expansive views, waterfront communities and country lanes as you wind your way back towards the downtown area for the finish line celebration.
What’s included in the half marathon registration?
SMRF has pacer groups available for the half marathon. Our pacer team will help you hit your goal time without the trouble of monitoring your GPS all morning! Plus, what could be better than running with a group of people shooting for the same time goal as you? Just look for the pacer sign in your assigned corral and join the group.
The 10K is back! The 10K route starts at the St. Michaels School complex and finishes right in the center of downtown St. Michaels. Runners head right down main street for the first mile before turning down gentle country lanes. You’ll make the Mt. Pleasant Landing loop and take in a few stunning water views before heading back to town and the finish line located in the center of St. Michaels. Finish your run by celebrating at the waterfront after party with live music!

The 1k Kids Fun Run is open to children ages 12 and younger. All children will receive a race shirt, runner bib and finisher's medal!

During registration you can also opt-in to report your race results via text or email (we’ll explain more below) and confirm your shipping address.
Run Your Race
Normally we toe the starting line at 7:00 AM on Saturday, but with the virtual event you’ve got the whole weekend to run! You can run your race anytime between Friday, August 20th and Sunday, August 22nd. You can run anywhere you like - your neighborhood, your favorite trail, your treadmill, etc. Since we are giving out awards to our top overall male and female runners in each race, be sure to take a screenshot of your running app or picture of your smartwatch or treadmill if you think you could be a top finisher (we’ll need this to verify placements of award winners). We encourage all participants to use the RaceJoy app, where you can track your run, automatically submit your results, send and receive cheers to/from other participants!
After you run your race you can submit your results automatically through the RaceJoy app, through text or email (if opted in), or directly on the runsignup.com results page from August 20th through August 22nd (11:59PM Eastern Time). Don’t forget: you MUST run your race during this time period - runs completed outside of this window will not be eligible for awards. If you have questions about submitting results don't hesitate to reach out to us at email@example.com. Results automatically update as times are submitted, so you can check the results to see how you stack up against the competition. After the 22nd we’ll reach out to our preliminary award winners to verify their time and distance, and finalize the results. Awards can be picked up at your local Charm City Run store, or shipped for our out-of-state participants.

Are you ready to race a 5K, 10K or Half Marathon in St. Michaels?
All paces and faces are welcome! If you plan to cross the St. Michael’s finish line, there’s a place for you in our training groups. Your training group will meet twice a week with a supportive group and expert coach, following COVID guidelines to keep everyone safe. In addition to weekly workouts, training registration includes a Charm City Run training premium, weekly training plan, and education on running-related topics (such as nutrition, hydration and injury prevention) along the way. Walking groups for our 5K program are available in Columbia, Frederick and Timonium!

You can enhance your in-person (or virtual) race experience by downloading the RaceJoy app for Android and iOS devices. With RaceJoy, participants can track their run, send other participants “cheers,” and get alerts when they hit mile marks or even go off-course! Virtual participants can have their results automatically uploaded to RunSignup when they finish the race. Spectators can track runners in real time and send “cheers” to participants as they complete their race!
SMRF is happy to offer free race photography to capture your awesome running photos at the start, on the course and at the finish. When you see a photographer on the course, don’t forget to put on a big smile, break out your best (or goofiest) pose or simply give a big cheer. We want to make sure we catch a great moment of your SMRF experience.

COVID-19 Health Security Plan: Creating a safe experience at the 2021 St. Michaels Running Festival is our top priority!
Safety of participants, volunteers, sponsors and staff is of utmost importance to Charm City Run. We are committed to following all local, state, national and CDC guidelines at the 2021 St. Michaels Running Festival. Charm City Run Events was fortunate enough to safely hold several in-person events in 2020, and has developed efficient and effective race day COVID-19 protocols and procedures. While guidelines and health metrics continue to evolve, we are prepared with procedures that may include, but are not limited to: caps on participation consistent with outdoor gathering guidelines; mandatory mask wearing for participants, volunteers and staff at all times (with the exception of when actively participating in the race); minimal spectators; social distancing and small group wave starts for participants; sanitizer stations throughout the event space; elimination of bag check and shirt exchanges; sealed grab-and-go water bottles at water stops; individually wrapped post-race snacks.

As we slowly return to racing in 2021, we want to be completely transparent with our policies regarding refunds, deferrals, and cancellations. If you are interested in signing up for this race please read this section carefully prior to registering. All interested participants will be shown these policies during the registration process and must agree to adhere to them in order to be admitted to the event.
Race registration fees (and the processing charge from RunSignup) are not refundable. These funds are used to pay for race premiums, permits, supplies, staffing, and other costs incurred before, during, and after the event is held. To be consistent and fair to everyone we cannot make exceptions to this policy.
We offer the option for registrants to defer their entry to the following year's event up to two weeks prior to the race (August 7, 2021). After this deadline passes we are unable to allow deferrals as race materials have been received and prepped for the event. Again, to be consistent and fair to everyone we cannot make exceptions to this policy. Registrants may defer their entry by going into their profile on runsignup.com and choosing "Manage Registration" next to the race.
We offer the option for registrants to transfer their entry to another eligible participant up to two weeks prior to the race (August 7, 2021).
