We’re trading 12 glorious miles down Baltimore's historic street for 12 miles wherever you are.

If you wish to pick up someone else's packet you must present their pre-race email that contains their QR code.  We appreciate your cooperation with this.

Any packets not picked up during one of the in-person packet pickup sessions will be mailed directly to the registrant via US Mail beginning September 1st. If you need to edit your mailing address please click here to go to your RunSignUp profile, scroll down to Charles 12 under your upcoming races, and click “Manage Registration.”

Packet pickups will be held outside except in the case of inclement weather. Please wear a face covering upon arrival, and maintain 6ft of space between other people waiting in line. All race packets will travel to each packet pickup location.

HOW DOES A VIRTUAL RACE WORK?

If you’ve participated in one of our other virtual races this year you know the drill, but if not, it’s easy!

Sign Up to Participate

Can’t run the race and get the SWAG if you don’t register! Click sign up button at top of page to get signed up, and be sure to bring your friends! You can choose the full 12-mile distance, or break it into 2 legs with a friend in our 2-person relay. During registration you can also opt-in to report your race results via text or email (we’ll explain more below) and confirm your shipping address (in case we need to ship your gear to you).

Run Your Race

Normally we toe the starting line at 7:30 AM on Saturday, but with the virtual event you’ve got an entire (long) weekend to run! You can run your race anytime between Saturday, September 5th and Monday, September 7th. You can run anywhere you like - your neighborhood, your favorite trail, your treadmill, etc. Since we are giving out awards to our top overall and age group runners, be sure to take a screenshot of your running app, or picture of your smartwatch or treadmill if you think you could be a top finisher (we’ll need this to verify placements of award winners).

Submit Results

After you run your race you can submit their results through text or email (if opted in), or directly on the runsignup.com results page from September 5th through September 7th (11:59PM Eastern Time). Don’t forget: you MUST run your race during this time period - runs completed outside of this window will not be eligible for awards. If you have questions about submitting results don't hesitate to reach out to us at events@charmcityrun.com. Results automatically update as times are submitted, so you can check the results to see how you stack up against the competition. After the 7th we’ll reach out to our preliminary award winners to verify their time and distance, and finalize the results. Awards can be picked up at your local Charm City Run store, or shipped for our out-of-state participants.

Awards:

Awards will be given to the top three overall males and females, top male and female masters, and the top male and female in the following age groups: 14 and under; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70 and over. An award will be given to the top three relay teams overall. There is NO double dipping!

If you intend to compete for time-based awards you will need a method of recording your time and distance - a GPS watch, phone app (MapMyRun, Strava, etc.), or a treadmill. To maintain the integrity of the competition as best as possible all award winners in each event must submit photo proof of GPS/run data to verify time and distance (photo of treadmill with time & distance, photo/screenshot of run tracker, etc.). Award winners will be emailed when the results submission period closes and asked to reply with their photo/screenshot. Placements are not final until overall and age-group winners in each race have been verified. You must run the full distance of the event in order to qualify, so for our purposes that is 12 miles -or- 12 miles total for the relay. If a performance cannot be verified, the award will roll down to the next participant/team.

We’ll miss running down Charles Street as a group, but we understand that you might want to run all or some of the traditional course on your own (on sidewalks of course!).

Please Remember: The 2020 Charles Street 12 and 2-Person Relay presented by KELLY is a virtual event. If you choose to run any portion of the traditional course you do so at your own risk, and must use sidewalks and follow all pedestrian traffic laws. There are no road closures or public safety officers present along the traditional race route.

Medals:

All participants in the individual and team relay races will receive a finishers medal. The 2020 design features the iconic blue crab, a Maryland staple and favorite of Hon’s everywhere!

Bib Number:

While you don’t need to run with your bib number, it’s great for photo ops and as a keepsake to remember a year that most of us would like to forget! Nonetheless, it’s yours!

Credit Toward the 2021 Under Armour Charles Street 12 Presented by KELLY

We know you may not be jumping for joy over the thought of another virtual race this year, but we have a MONUMENTAL deal for you! Register for the 2021 Virtual Charles Street 12, and after the race you’ll receive a link to register for the 2021 race for just $50 ($35 per-person for relay teams). That’s $25 off of the introductory price for the 12 Miler, and $15 off the per-person rate for the 2-person relay!

Transfer and Deferral Policy:

We allow transfers to a new participant up until two weeks prior to race day (September 5, 2020). The deadline to defer your entry to 2021 is July 24th at 11:59PM. You may do both by going into your profile on runsignup.com and choosing manage registration.

Beneficiary:

Athletes Serving Athletes (ASA) began with David Slomkowski who wanted to use his athletic abilities to support individuals living with disabilities in Baltimore City. In 2007, David partnered with the William S. Baer School and began a relationship with Baer School Students who then became ASA's first athletes.

ASA's  success can be defined by how many people have been encouraged to cross the finish line since 2007. With strong leadership and dedicated individuals, ASA continues to empower Athletes to train and compete in over 90 running events per year.

ASA's spirit has expanded  from Baltimore City throughout the Eastern Mid-Atlantic region, offering mentoring, training, and competitive opportunities. All programs are offered at no cost to the Athletes, families, or organizations that support them.
