Description
Welcome to the official site of our "Take a Hike" Virtual Challenge. This virtual challenge is designed to inspire you to “keep moving” and build or maintain fitness during the spring season to get you ready for LIVE racing! This challenge is a fun way to stay motivated to train and you can invite your friends and family to join you! The event will take place over 12 weeks, from April 1 to June 24, to give you the flexibility to complete all the challenge miles. Finish in 12 weeks or less. If you missed the starting weeks it will not be too late to enter after the challenge starts…you will just have a shorter time to complete the challenge. Swag will be mailed to you later in the challenge, at no additional charge. You can log workouts that you are using for other virtual events.

How do I choose my Event?
Follow these steps to get started
1- Choose your Discipline– there are 5 disciplines, Fitness, Hiking (Walking), Running, Biking and Multi-sport (bike and run). Read more below under the “Discipline” section.
2- Choose your Distance– within each discipline we two distance options. Read more below under the “Distances” section.
3- Register for your Event– once you have chosen your discipline and distance you are ready to hit the “Register Now” button.
4- Join a Team– during the registration process you will be asked if you want to create or join a team. This is a great way to stay motivated and have fun with friends and family. Read more in the “Join a Team” section below.
Disciplines
Review the disciplines below to chose the one you want to focus on over the next 12 weeks and review the “Distances” section below to chose your distance.
FITNESS- this discipline is for those who enjoy a variety of workouts. This includes, but not limited to, freestyle workouts in the gym or at home, activity in the pool, activity on the ski slopes, or any other athletic activity that is not pure walking, running, biking or multisport. Enjoy your favorite personal trainers, virtual class and workout regimen during this challenge. You can choose from 2 distance options that will be based on “minutes” spent working out.
HIKE– this discipline is for those who like to hike/walk. You can use a treadmill or outside. You can choose from 2 distance options.
RUN- this discipline is for those who like to run. You can use a treadmill or outside. You can choose from 2 distance options.
BIKE- this discipline is for those who want to ride their bike. You can use a trainer, stationary bike or ride outside. You can choose from 2 distance options.
MULTI-SPORT- this discipline is for the multi-sport athlete who wants to bike and run. You can use a trainer, stationary bike, ride outside, treadmill or run outside. You can choose from 2 distance options.
Distances
Fitness Challenge-
-Long distance is measured by workout hours. Total of 120 hours. (10 hours average per week).
-Short distance is measured by workout hours. Total of 60 hours. (5 hours average per week).
Hike (Walk) Challenge-
-Long distance is measured by miles and time. Total of 120 miles. (10 miles average per week).
-Short distance is measured by miles and time. Total of 60 miles. (5 miles average per week).
Run Challenge-
-Long distance is measured by miles and time. Total of 240 miles. (20 miles average per week).
-Short distance is measured by miles and time. Total of 120 miles. (10 miles average per week).
Bike Challenge-
-Long distance is measured by miles and time. Total of 600 miles. (50 miles average per week).
-Short distance is measured by miles and time. Total of 300 miles. (25 miles average per week).
Multi-sport Challenge-
-Long distance is measured by miles and time. Total of 480 bike miles and 144 run miles. (40 bike miles and 12 run miles average per week).
-Short distance is measured by miles and time. Total of 240 bike miles and 72 run miles. (20 bike miles and 6 run miles average per week).
Multi-sport participants can log biking and running miles in any order. However, they must only record bike mile for the bike portion and run miles for the run portion.
Join a Team!
We have two Team contests to create some FUN! Invite friends and family members to join you on this challenge by creating a team to support each other! Come up with a team name and be sure that everyone enters it during registration. We will have the following results for the Team competition…
Largest Team– having the most team members registered
Most States Team– having the most states represented on your team
If you already registered without a team but decided to make a team or join one, no problem. Use your registration confirmation email from Run Sign Up to open up your registration and make team edits. If you have any questions contact Shannon@RacineMultiSports.com.

Fee- includes race shirt and finisher medal mailed directly to you.
$40.00– first 25 entries
$45.00– from March 12 – March 21 March 24th
$50.00– beginning March 22 March 25th

Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Results
You will be required to submit your results daily beginning April 1st. Click on the PDF below for details. Results Leaderboard will update daily automatically for each discipline/course. Ranking will be based on two factors. All “miles” courses will be based first on miles completed and then adjust to overall time for participants who reach the total miles goal.

Event Community
We created a Facebook page for the event to encourage you to share your pre-race photos and workouts, to help promote the event and to share your post-race photos and comments.

Virtual Process
Here are the easy steps to follow to get the most out of your virtual experience.
1. Register Online– for one of the 5 disciplines: Fitness, Hike/Walk, Run, Bike, or Multi-sport (Run/Bike)
2. Join Facebook Group– to share pre-race photos and workouts and then photos of your race day experience.
3. Recruit Friends– we want to see how many areas of the country we can get people involved, but we need your help!
4. Pre-Challenge Communication– we will send you information as we get closer to the start of the Challenge to help you get ready and to learn how to submit your results daily.
5. Start Working Out– beginning April 1st you can start logging your workouts.
6. Submit Results Daily– your results can be uploaded daily with your miles and time.
7. Submit Photos– from your runs or rides and share on the Facebook group page.
8. Check Results– as results get submitted by participants it will update daily so you can watch the leaderboard.
9. Swag Delivery– we will submit the order for shirts and medals later in the challenge. You will get your swag mailed to your front door.
Charitable Giving
At Racine MultiSports, we want to do our part to support the communities where we hold our events. In alignment with our mission, we have decided to support Appalachian Trail Conservancy. “Overseeing the management and conservation of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail since 1925. The mission of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy is to protect, manage, and advocate for the Appalachian National Scenic Trail.” Please consider making a small donation to this much needed organization!
