The Silhouette Project
Description
Did you know that we are losing 20-22 veterans a day to suicide? I didn’t know that either until I lost my own son Dustin, an Afghanistan Veteran, in December 2014.
There were so many things I didn’t know, like the signs of PTSD or where to go for help other than the VA. Without knowing, I was helpless to stop him. I am on a mission to educate other families about what to look for before a tragedy happens. My other mission is urging veterans that may be struggling to reach out for the help they need and deserve.
Through the "For Them 5K", The Maine Silhouette Project will raise awareness about the struggles our veterans face in returning home after their duty and to increase awareness of the risk of suicide.

Please find the For Them 5K Course Map.
This course will start and end at the Kennebec Valley YMCA and utilize the Kennebec River Rail Trail in an out and back fashion.
