Race to End Domestic Violence 2020 - Virtual Event!

Tue October 13 - Wed October 28 Hinckley, ME 04944 US Directions

Place

15 Stanley Road
Hinckley, ME US 04944

Description

Join us for the 4th Annual Race to End Domestic Violence, a 5k (3.1 mile) run/walk put on by the Somerset & Kennebec Domestic Vionece Task Forces in collaboration with Family Violence Project to raise awareness about abuse and raise funds to support survivors.

Due to COVID-19 and all of the uncertainty of gatherings, we have decided to make this event virtual. While we will miss seeing you all in person doing this event as a large group and that awesome show of solidarity towards survivors, you can still take a stand against domestic abuse and complete the 5k on your own or with your team remotely. This means you can go to fun places like the rail trail, Smalls Falls, or your neighborhood, sport your shirt and complete the 5k! If you want to, you can take a picture or make a video about why this is important to you and share it on social media- however you want to do it to show that you support survivors. People will see your shirt, and they will know. When you are done you can post your picture and time to our page!

Register by October 9th to get a free t-shirt! T-Shirt pick up will happen at the Somerset & Kennebec DA's Office. If you are on a team, arrangements will be made to drop t-shirts off with the team captain! Check out the store for other items to purchase! http://store.logologic.com/racetoenddv/shop/home

If you are interested in taking part in the 5k, but are being kept back due to finances, please contact Michelle at 623-8637 ext 307 or by email at mleclair@familyviolenceproject.org

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. By participating in this event, you will be part of the solution to end domestic violence. You will be showing survivors that their community cares about them, and people will support them.

Family Violence Project's mission is to end domestic violence in Kennebec and Somerset Counties. We work to do this by increasing victim safety, empowering survivors, and advocating for social change. If you or a loved one are experiencing abuse, advocates are available 24/7 at 1-877-890-7788 for support, safety planning, and resources.
