Virtual 1 Mile

IMPORTANT EVENT CHANGE

We at CompetitorME take the health and well being of our participants, volunteers, spectators, and staff very seriously.  With the current mandates surrounding COVID-19, we are working with local officials and medical professionals to best understand the impact of our events.

Maine Governor Janet Mills has mandated that for Stage 3 of Restarting Maine's Economy, that in July "Stage 3 maintains the prohibition on gatherings of more than 50 people".

In order to keep keep all of our participants and staff safe, while still maintaining the integrity of this event, we have decided to change the event to a Virtual Race!  In an athlete-first policy, we are offering to all registered runners, at no additional cost, the ability to transfer to the Virtual Participant Option.  We will make this transfer for you.  Additionally, you will still receive the same event goodies in the mail!

Finally, on behalf of CompetitorME, the Ward family, and our sponsors, we appreciate the support of our running and endurance event communities.  These are undoubtedly trying times for us all.  We look forward to seeing you all as soon as we can!

LP Miracle Mile: Makenna and Maggie's Race for Research
Description

This 8th running of the LP Miracle Mile will help to raise money for research and awareness for Pediatric Cancer and Diamond Blackfan Anemia.

“My reason for this event and inspiration is not only my own daughters fight with cancer but the thousands (12,500) of kids who are diagnosed yearly. LP Miracle Mile will also benefit Diamond Blackfan Anemia, a rare blood disorder in which the bone marrow fails to make red blood cells. So the race will personally effect our two young ladies represented, Makenna and Maggie.” - Kirk Ward

About The Race
LP Miracle Mile is a 1 mile down hill race for Runners and Walkers. Registration check in starts at 4:00 pm and goes to 5:30 pm, with the gun sounding at 6:00 pm for runners AND walkers. The event parking and registration has been made possible by Military Street Baptist Church, located at 307 Military St. The starting line itself is at the intersection of Grant St. and Military St. in Houlton, ME. Racers will line up facing west towards Greater Houlton and make their way down the hill.

Once past St. Mary's Church on the right, racers will be at a five way intersection where they will have to bear a slight right onto Main St. From here the race follows Main St. into Houlton’s historic Market Square. The finish line is located just before Main St. splits and crosses Court/Water streets.

After the event racers are invited to the Houlton Elk's Club where a reception and award ceremony will be held. Refreshments will be made available.

The race will also serve as the opening event of Houlton’s Midnight Madness festival, an annual gathering of local communities to kick off the 4th of July. Participants are invited to partake in all festivities after the LP Miracle Mile as the night would only just be getting started.

Funds raised by the LP Miracle Mile will go to benefit two specific organizations. CureSearch, an organization dedicated to Research and Awareness of Pediatric Cancer. The second organization, Diamond Blackfan Anemia Foundation, provides similar Research and Awareness support.

THE FIRST 175 REGISTRANTS WILL RECEIVE AN EVENT SHIRT!!
