PWH: Race To Ethiopia
Place
Orono, ME US 04469
Description
Do you like to run? Do you like to help fund service projects? Then this is the race for you!
This race is being held by the UMaine chapter of Partners for World Health.
Partners for World Health is a nonprofit based in Portland, Maine that aims to reduce medical waste, improve the quality of healthcare in under-served countries, and educate the local community about global healthcare issues. The UMaine chapter supports the efforts in Portland by collecting medical supplies around the Bangor, Maine area and sorting them at a facility in Brewer. We also help with community outreach by reaching out to facilities around Bangor that may need personal care items, neo-natal supplies, or incontinence supplies. Since 2009, PWH has collected more than 2 million pounds of medical supplies that would have otherwise been sent to landfill, saving more than 318,000 pounds in 2019 alone.
Th Umaine Chapter is raising funds to send students over the Etiopia this summer to help provide much-needed medical care and support.
We ask for a donation of $5.00 per race participant, all profits from the race will go towards the mission trip.
