**Important Upadate**
Dear Racers, Volunteers, Participants, and Sponsors,
In accordance with ongoing efforts by the Maine CDC to curb the spread of viral borne COVID-19, and as part of an ongoing directive by the city of Portland to aid in this task, we regret to inform you that the University of New England Oral Cancer 5K scheduled to take place this April has been cancelled. We take the guidelines issued forth by the CDC to practice social distancing and reducing large gatherings seriously and we are working closely with the city of Portland’s public assembly facilities division to reschedule our event for a later date, as we continue to reassess this current situation.

This 5k Run/Walk is held in partnership with The University of New England - Student National Dental Association and The University of New England - Student Occupational Therapy Association
Ticket Prices:
$15 - Children 12 and under
$25 - Early Bird Registration until March 21st
$30 - Late and Day-of Registration
April is oral cancer awareness month. White and Burgundy are the colors we use to represent and acknowledge it!
According to research from the American Cancer Society, over 50,000 people across the United States will be newly diagnosed with some form of oral and pharyngeal cancer this year, adding to the nearly 400,000 Americans currently living with an oral cancer diagnosis. Tragically, of those affected with pharyngeal, tongue, or mouth cancer, it is estimated that 11,000 will not survive their diagnosis in 2020. This spring, the Student National Dental Association at the University of New England will strive to make a difference in these statistics and celebrate the people who have fought oral cancer by providing public awareness and free oral cancer screenings during the UNE SNDA Oral Cancer 5k in Portland, Maine.

5k Route - Start and End @ Fort Allen Park
This race features a total of two u-turns on the north and south end of Eastern Promenade Trail

The route will start at the base of the Fort Allen Park switchback and proceed down to Sewage Plant Rd
-
From Sewage Plant Rd the route will turn around and proceed past the start point towards the Portland Cruise Terminal
-
From the Portland Cruise Terminal the route will turn around and finish at the base of the Fort Allen Park switchback
