Superheroes Have COVID-19 on the Run
Super scientists, physicians and nurses around the world have COVID-19 and its villainous variants on the run. Nevertheless, it’s still too soon to gather. The time isn’t right yet. Don’t despair friends. Don't put your capes and tights away just yet!
The important thing is that we live to run another year. And, we can still “fight” for inclusion and acceptance in our communities for people with special needs. As we Superheroes are virtually everywhere, we are holding a virtual event again this year. Join us as we celebrate our statewide digital community of Superheroes ready to meet the call to action for individuals with special needs and super abilities. We are hoping even more Superheroes than ever will be able to participate.
Proceeds from this year’s event will offset the extra costs of PPE equipment and other supplies needed to provide programs and services to children, youth and adults, families and our employees safely during the pandemic.
Where & When
Anywhere in the world, any time of day or night starting Friday, June 4, 7 a.m., through Wednesday, June 9 at 7 p.m. Choose your event, your course, and the time of day to get involved. Although we will be running or walking alone or in small groups in our own communities, are Superheroes really ever alone? No, they are just 6’, one big karate kick or one Bat Signal away from each other.
What to Wear
A costume of course! A golden lasso, tights, utility belt, speedy socks, jet pack. Accessorize with a pet sidekick! Or, a Superhero 5K t-shirt from a past 5K. Don’t have a costume? Don’t fret. This year’s registration fee includes a cape and mask.
Adults 18+ = $20
Youth 8 to 17 = $10
Children 7 and Under = Free
Pets = Free

Why Participate or Donate?
Today, 1 in 59 kids is diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). ASD is a developmental disability that can cause social, communication and behavioral challenges. People with ASD may communicate, interact, behave and learn in ways that are different from other people. Transitions and/or breaks in routine can be stressful for people with ASD in the best of times. Over the past year, social distancing and mask protocols, school closures, changes in receiving needed services, and many other things have been extra challenging. Everyone can be a hero in some way to people with disabilities.
