Join Us for A Stroll for Sara
Saturday, June 21st • Ann Arbor, MI (and beyond!)
On June 21st, we’ll walk 3.2 miles in memory of Sara Zuleta-Acosta — to honor her vibrant spirit and raise funds for a cause she fought for with everything she had: supporting those diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC).
Why We Walk
In the fall of 2019, Sara Zuleta-Acosta discovered a lump in the shower. Two weeks later, at just 27, she was diagnosed with Stage III Triple Negative Breast Cancer — an aggressive and under-researched form of breast cancer that primarily affects younger women.
But cancer never defined Sara.
She kept living. She kept loving. She kept showing up — for music festivals, for spontaneous adventures, for sunsets with Bryan and their dog Barkley. She skied, traveled, danced, and showed us all what it means to live with grace, grit, and joy.
What began as a simple idea — walking alongside Sara while she fought — has become a mission to carry her spirit forward.
After she passed in November 2023, just one month shy of her 32nd birthday, we set a goal:
👉 Raise $100,000 to fund a research grant in her name.
Thanks to your generosity, we’ve already raised $67,000. Your support can help us finish what we started — and put this money into action.

Why TNBC Awareness Matters
Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) accounts for 10–20% of all breast cancer cases, but it’s more aggressive and harder to treat than other subtypes. TNBC disproportionately affects younger women and certain ethnic groups, and it lacks the hormone receptors that many breast cancer treatments target.
Raising awareness fuels research, early detection, and better outcomes. It also supports the 1 in 8 women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
