Race for the Place 5K: Cancelled
Dear Race for the Place Community,
The safety, health, and well-being of our community is our top priority, and we feel it is critical to do our part in the global effort to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
For this reason, the 26th annual Race for the Place 5K scheduled for April 19, 2020 will be cancelled.
The Race for the Place is the largest annual fundraiser for MSU Safe Place and allows our program to continue to provide vital services to the members of the MSU and greater Lansing communities who experience relationship violence and stalking. We are so grateful for the generous community support that we have received over the years.
We want to thank you for your interest in supporting MSU Safe Place and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause to those who registered and have been preparing for the race. If you registered for the race, you will be receiving information about your registration within the next several days.
How can you help?
· If you are already registered, we ask you to consider donating your registration fees to Safe Place to support our program in this challenging time.
· Additional donations can be made through our RunSignUp page, or check out our website for other ways to support us.
· Keep an eye out for the next Race for the Place 5K, to be scheduled in April 2022!
We’re grateful for the continued support from our sponsors, walkers/runners, our planning committee and volunteers who’ve made this event possible for the past 25 years. We look forward to our future Race for the Place events.
As circumstances safely allow, we encourage all community members to continue running, walking and moving! Description
The Race for the Place is the largest annual fundraiser for MSU Safe Place and allows the program to continue to provide vital services to the members of the MSU and greater Lansing communities who experience relationship violence and stalking. The Race for the Place 5K course takes place on the beautiful campus of Michigan State University. Location for the race this year is at Jenison Field House. Race for the Place is a fun-filled family event, with events for kids of all ages, MSU varsity athlete participation and a visit from Sparty!!
Fee includes a long-sleeve t-shirt and refreshments after the event.Shirts are only guaranteed with pre-registration on or before March 30, 2020.
Special Group/Family pricing: Register a group/family of up to 4 for only $60! Add additional group members for $15/each!
Awards: Overall male and female finishers for the 5K, plus the top male and female finishers (run and walk) for age groups: Master, Grand Master, 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 and over.
The race will be professionally chip timed by the Michigan Running Foundation. Results will be posted during the race and on the web at Playmakers.com.

Greater Lansing Area Race Series
This race is part of the 2020 Greater Lansing Race Series. The series features 13 races from the Greater Lansing Area starting in March and ending in late September. There is no need to register for the race series itself. Simply register and participate in any of the race series events and you will be scored automatically! Michigan Fitness Challenge & Endorsement
This race is endorsed by and part of the 2020 Michigan Fitness Foundation Challenge. The challenge encourages Michiganders to engage with events that promote physical activity, health and wellness. You will receive a FIT point for every endorsed event you participate in or volunteer for from January 1 until December 31. Points earn cool swag and a chance to win various prizes!
