Whitehills 5K Run/Walk

Welcome!

The sixth annual Whitehills 5K Run/Walk is back and will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023. The course will be measured and chip-timed. There is also a free half-mile Kids Fun Run (registration is necessary). Race proceeds will go toward needs identified by Whitehills Elementary School, which serves a diverse population. About 25% of Whitehills students receive free and reduced lunch; race profits allow the Whitehills School Association to serve the needs of our entire student population (see recently funded projects here). Come and enjoy the beautiful tree-lined streets through the Whitehills neighborhood and enjoy refreshments after the race. All ages and abilities welcome! We Are Back!

After a break from 2020 - 2022 due to the pandemic, we are back and excited to run around our beautiful neighborhood, all to support the students at Whitehills Elementary. Since the race was last run in 2019 a lot of changes have been made. The school was rebuilt starting in 2019 and completed in 2020. New features have been added such as an outdoor learning space, solar panels and the support of 21st century learning for the kids.

Course Notes

Street 5K: This is a fast course with a couple of gentle hills, and is a great course for novice runners, younger participants, senior racers, and anyone in between! Strollers are welcome (will start in back of main group), but no dogs allowed unless they are service animals. • $20 (pre-registration) for ages 5 and up (includes shirt) through June 30
• $25 (pre-registration) for ages 5 and up (includes shirt) July 1-August 11
• $30 for ages 10 and up (shirt not guaranteed) August 12-through race day
• FREE for Kids Fun Run for ages 10 and under (registration needed; no chipped bib given)

  Race Times

  • 8:30 am – Kids Fun Run Warmup (optional and free!)
  • 8:45 am – Kids Fun Run (half mile race, registration needed)
  • 9:00 am – 5K Run/Walk

  Packet Pick Up & Parking

  • Packet pick-up AND ONSITE REGISTRATION Friday, August 25, 2023, 4-6 pm and beginning at 7:30 am on race day.
    • Packet pick-up location for Friday and Saturday is at Whitehills Elementary School -- 621 Pebblebrook Lane -- at the outdoor learning pavilion. 
  • Recommended parking at the Whitehills Elementary School the morning of the race or along Northgate Drive.

  Awards

  • Kids Fun Run - each participant receives a special prize; registration is needed for this half mile run
  • 5K Run/Walk - finisher medals, male, female, nonbinary overall, 1st, 2nd, 3rd in each age bracket
    • Brackets: 8 and under, 9-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+
    • Top male, female and nonbinary winners will each receive a Playmakers gift card
    • Top three male, female and nonbinary winners in each age division will receive a medal

   

The race is professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation.
