We're saddened to share this race cancelation update.

It is with deep disappointment that we announce that this year's trail run has been canceled.  After developing a solid game plan to make this another fun and safe event, local authorities have decided not to grant the permit necessary to hold our event.  With Governor Whitmer's recent Executive Order #2020-160 limiting outdoor gatherings to 100 individuals or less, the  City of Walker is obligated to adhere to the executive orders given by our state’s governor, and given that it would be difficult to keep a solid cap of 100 on racers, spectators, race volunteers, City Staff was not comfortable with the event.

As you may know, this trail run event is a fundraiser for both Blandford Nature Center and West Side Christian School.  Funds raised to allow for children to have outdoor educational experiences.  That said, we'd like to encourage you to allow your registration to be counted as a donation.  If you'd like instead to have a full or partial refund, please let us know and we will get the refund processed.  We would appreciate hearing from you by September 30, 2020.

As we look forward, the hope is to once again have a great community event next year.  Thank you for your understanding.

I understand that this trail run event is a fundraiser for both Blandford Nature Center and West Side Christian School.  I am happy to allow my entry fee funds to be contributed and give children outdoor educational experiences.

We understand. We hope you can join us next time.

This in-person race has the goal to provide a truly fun and competitive racing experience for the participants while adhering to all CDC social distancing and safety guidelines.

The race will have a time-trial type set up which will allow runners to start individually or in small groups of associated participants (family members or participants that live together) during designated times between 6:15- 6:45 PM.  While registering, participants will be asked to select a 15 minute starting time slot.  Participants will begin their race during the selected time slot.  There is a limit starting positions available for each starting time slot and they are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.  In order to maintain safe distancing and traffic control on the racecourse, participants must start during their selected starting time slot.  If a particular starting time is not available it means it has reached the maximum number of participants for that time slot.

THERE WILL BE NO ON-SITE REGISTRATION.  ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST PRE-REGISTER ONLINE BEFORE THE RACE DAY

To help ensure the safety of the participants all participants must adhere to the following requirements:

-Participants are required to be completely self-sufficient.  No water stops, refreshments, or medical assistance will be provided. Bottled drinks will be available after the race.

-Masks will be worn by all volunteers. Participants will are asked to wear masks as they gather near the start - while keeping a distance during the rolling start time. Once the race begins masks will not be required. We'll have masks on hand for those that need one.
-Participants must follow all CDC safe distancing guidelines.

-Participants must be in good health and symptom-free from any illness for at least 2 weeks prior to the event.
-After picking up their race number and upon approaching the starting line participants are required to immediately begin their race.  Participants will not be allowed to congregate or conduct any race preparation (warm-ups, stretching, adjusting or changing apparel, etc.) in the starting area.  Participants should approach the starting line ready to run.
-Except for passing, participants should always remain on the far right-hand side of the pathway.  Participants passing one another on the course must adhere to “no drafting” rules which include being no closer than 10 feet behind or in front of, or 6 feet beside other competitors at any time.  Participants may pass only when there are not any oncoming runners approaching from the opposite direction.  Before passing, participants must be sure they can safely remain 10 feet behind and then 10 feet in front of the participant being overtaken before merging back to the right-hand side of the pathway.
-Upon completing their run and crossing the finish line participant must continue moving towards the exit of the finish area.  Participants will be required to leave the finish line area and proceed to the farm open area.

Failure to adhere to any of the stated race requirements will result in the immediate disqualification of the participant.

Please keep in mind that your cooperation and adherence to all safe distancing practices is the key to us being able to offer competitive events like this in the foreseeable future.

Race participants and all volunteers  will be emailed a Covid-19 checklist required for each participant attending.

We're excited to offer an exciting trail run event! Don't wait to sign up. Spots are limited!
