The U.P.'s Premier Running Event

The event includes a half marathon, half marathon wheelchair division, 10 mile run, 10 mile walk, 5 mile run, 5 mile blade division, 5 mile walk and 2 mile run/walk! Our event features a beautiful course along the Portage Canal, early registration and team discounts, participants receive an awesome Canal Run t-shirt, free high quality photo downloads after the race and custom awards for top finishers! Our event is family friendly and the highlight of many people's summer!

Canal Run Gives Back

The Canal Run is proud to announce proceeds from the 2021 Canal Run will go to the Omega House through the Canal Run Gives Back program. This program has put $10,000 into nonprofits that serve Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw or Ontonagon counties since 2017. Omega House is located in Houghton, and since 2005 has offered a peaceful, homelike environment for terminally ill people and provides end-of-life care that emphasizes compassion, independence, respect and dignity. In cooperation with local hospice programs, Omega House provides residents with exceptional care and attention 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
