Dear Lake Lansing Team Relay Participant,
Thank you for registering for the 2020 Lake Lansing Team Relay. The safety, health, and well-being of our community is our top priority, and we feel it is imperative to do our part in the global effort to mitigate the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).
For this reason, we have canceled the 2020 Lake Lansing Team Relay. Participants that paid the registration fee via RunSignUp will be issued a full refund. If your team captain paid the registration fee, he/she will be issued a refund, and you should work with your team captain to be reimbursed.
In place of the Lake Lansing Team Relay, we are offering an option for individuals to take part in a six-week summer challenge and/or a finale event of 4.2 miles around Lake Lansing on Sunday, August 9th. This event will include professional race timing for each participant, and there will be a flexible start time. Participants can start the race anytime between 7-10am on August 9th, but there will be no crowded mass start, and no more than five people will start at a time. The start/finish line will be wide, and the space will be open to allow for proper social distancing.
The traditional relay with baton handoffs and high-fives will not be possible this year, but the opportunity to challenge and cheer for one another and run/walk with your relay teammates will remain. You can choose to participate in person or virtually this year, and the race swag is better than ever. Check out the Great Lakes Summer Challenge shirt and the Goodr sunglasses!
Registration will be limited due to park restrictions on numbers, so register today at: Great Lakes Summer Challenge
The Lake Lansing Team Relay is changing and adding an event in 2020. . This year there will be two overall events, a 5 team member run/walk relay around Lake Lansing and a 3 team member walk around Lake Lansing! Both races will start/exchange/finish at the same location, just provide additional opportunities due to demand!
Team members will do one full lap (5.25 miles) around Lake Lansing. We have reserved Lake Lansing Park South in order to accommodate runners as well as their friends and family. The course will include a combination of paved pathways, sidewalks, and open roads that will wind its way along the course with views of the lake.
Each team member will receive a race t-shirt and a commemorative pint glass. Each runner must include their age as well as gender upon registration in order to place them into the appropriate division for awards. There will also be a single-lap individual race, which includes a t-shirt but no awards. Runners will be allowed to run more than one leg if they wish, however the average age of the team members will be used to calculate what age group the team will participate within.
All proceeds from this event will go to the Playmakers Fitness Foundation (PFF), a non-profit organization that is committed to the wellness of the mid-Michigan community. The PFF works to empower all people to adopt and sustain a healthier and more active lifestyle by providing opportunities for people to move more and educational programs that train people to move better! Proceeds from the Team Relay will fund additional opportunities and educational programs.
Join the fun! We anticipate this event will fill quickly based on the success of previous years. Take advantage of reduced rates and guaranteed participation by registering as soon as possible!
