Kick off your St. Patrick’s Day celebration on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at our 8th annual St. Paddy's Leprechaun Chase 5K run! Participants are encouraged to dress for the occasion - we love to see your green outfits and Irish costumes. This is a fundraising event of Holland Running Club with proceeds benefiting the West Michigan Chapter of myTEAM TRIUMPH, an organization that is dedicated to providing the experience of road racing to individuals with disabilities.
The Wee Chase starts at 8:30 AM. The Wee Chase is a quarter mile course around Centennial Park and is for kids 4 through the age of 8. Registration is free, but parents of the little lads and lasses must sign them up through Runsignup (online) or at Centennial Park (prior to the run).
The 5K starts from Centennial Park at 9:00 AM. The route winds through downtown Holland and out to historic Windmill Island with the return portion of the course taking runners through the Hope College campus. Register by March 10th to be guaranteed a St. Paddy's Leprechaun Chase long sleeve shirt. Finishers medal and age group medals (top 3). Snacks (hot chocolate, coffee, boxed water, donut holes, bananas and donuts) at Centennial Park.
Pre-race day Packet Pickup will be at Gazelle Sports (on 8th St.) from 3:00 - 7:30 PM on March 17th. Race-day packet pickup is available from 7:30-8:30 AM at the Centennial Park pavilion. The 5K on-line signup will close March 17 with NO Race-day registration.
MyTeamTriumph is our race beneficiary. This organization provides an opportunity for individuals with disabilities to participate in a race. Those individuals, called Captains, are escorted during the race by "Angels". There are usually 3 Angels assigned to each Captains's chariot.
If you are interested in running the St. Paddy's Leprechaun Chase as an Angel, DO NOT SIGN UP ON THE RACE PAGE.
INSTEAD - Clink on the attached link below and MyTeamTriumph will register you with the race as an Angel.
Did you know that you can Volunteer and still run the race? All volunteer positions except for Course Marshals, Results/Award table, Finish-line medals and Food table volunteers are able to volunteer for and also run the race.
To volunteer and run the Leprechaun Chase, first signup for your desired volunteer position and then wait to receive a confirmation email with your volunteer discount code. Once you receive this code, then register for the race.
Members of Holland Running Club will receive an automatic race discount. The volunteer discount code can be used in addition to the club discount.
This is run/walk plan is designed to slowly build up your running time to allow you to run/walk a 5K with 3 runs per week. After the first two weeks the run/walk ratio increases and within each week the total time increases. Various running or smart watches can be programmed for run/walk intervals. There are also free apps for your phone, such as Runintervals that will do the same thing. Remember to take it easy, especially at the beginning. Also feel free to stay with easier run/walk intervals as the weeks progress or move to harder ones depending on your fitness or comfort level. The goal here is to arrive at the start line of a 5K healthy with the fitness to complete it.
