Description

Kick off your St. Patrick’s Day celebration on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at the Holland Running Club's 9th annual St. Paddy's Leprechaun Chase 5K and Children's Wee Chase! Participants are encouraged to dress for the occasion - we love seeing your green outfits and Irish costumes!

This is a fundraising event hosted by the Holland Running Club (HRC) with proceeds benefiting the West Michigan Chapter of myTEAM TRIUMPH, an organization that is dedicated to providing the experience of road racing to individuals with disabilities.

The Wee Chase starts from the Civic Center at 8:30 AM. Children ages 4-8 years old are encouraged to participate. This course will be a quarter mile course around the Holland Civic Center. Registration is free, but parents of the little lads and lasses must sign them up ahead of time.

The 5K starts from the Civic Center at 9:00 AM. Finisher and age group medals (top 3) will be awarded.  All participants will receive a shirt, unless opting out. Snacks will also be served at the Holland Civic Center when runners finish (hot chocolate, coffee, boxed water, and donut holes).

*Please note, the Holland Farmers Market will be taking place from 8:00AM to 2:00PM on Race Day. We encourage runners to check it out after their races!

Be an Angel for MyTeamTriumph!

MyTeamTriumph is our race beneficiary. This organization provides an opportunity for individuals with disabilities to participate in a race. Those individuals, called Captains, are escorted during the race by "Angels". There are usually 3 Angels assigned to each Captains' chariot.

If you are interested in running the St. Paddy's Leprechaun Chase as an Angel, DO NOT SIGN UP ON THE RACE PAGE.
INSTEAD - Clink on the attached link below and MyTeamTriumph will register you with the race as an Angel.

Leprechaun Chase 5K Beginner Run/Walk Plan

This is run/walk plan is designed to slowly build up your running time to allow you to run/walk a 5K with 3 runs per week. After the first two weeks the run/walk ratio increases and within each week the total time increases. Various running or smart watches can be programmed for run/walk intervals. There are also free apps for your phone, such as Runintervals that will do the same thing. Remember to take it easy, especially at the beginning. Also feel free to stay with easier run/walk intervals as the weeks progress or move to harder ones depending on your fitness or comfort level. The goal here is to arrive at the start line of a 5K healthy with the fitness to complete it.
