Step by Step is proud to host the 42nd Annual Groundhog Gallop as part of the Orthopaedic Rehab Run/Walk Series. This 5K run/walk will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019. 

$20 on or before January 27, by mail/online
$25 January 28-Feb 2 (please return in person to ensure receipt)
Race is professionally timed using disposable bib chips
Long-sleeve t-shirt guaranteed for all registered participants

Online registration will close at noon on Thursday, January 31st to allow the timing company to prepare bib numbers. Registration forms will be available at Friday's packet pick-up and Saturday before the race! All registration Jan 28-Feb 2 is $25/participant.

Prizes will be awarded to walkers and runners in the following categories:

  • 1st place male/female
  • 1st place master's male/female
  • 1st, 2nd, 3rd in age group (5 year age groups)

Should I register for the run or walk? That's up to you. The Groundhog Gallop is part of the Orthopaedic Rehab Run/Walk Series, which awards points to runners and walkers that participate in at least 5 of the series events in a year. If you plan to run/jog at all, please register for the run. To learn more see details below.

Note: 42nd Annual Groundhog Gallop will NOT be cancelled due to inclement weather. All reasonable attempts will be made to clear the course of snow, but there is a segment of the course that is hard to clear of built up ice. This is a winter race, please be mindful of course conditions and adjust your pace accordingly. Don't worry, it's always fun!

The Series’ mission is to provide incentives and opportunities for Jackson and surrounding communities to get fit and active.

There are nine races in the series (Groundhog Gallop is not used for points). Participants in each race earn points toward the series, so there is added incentive for people to enter. Runners and walkers must participate in at least six events to qualify for age-group awards. To learn more click here: Run Jackson
