Mark your calendars for the Sixth annual Special Olympics Michigan Area 19 (Jackson County) VIRTUAL Heart of a Lion 5K

This race will allow participants to practice social distancing while safely uniting in support of
Special Olympics Michigan Area 19 (Jackson County)

All Registrants will receive a t-shirt, a bib with our athlete’s names on it and a commemorative medal

Your post race package will be sent via mail, which will include a Heart of a Lion 5K t-shirt and finishers medal.
* Please note that shirts are unisex sizing
This is NOT a timed event
. A virtual race allows you to run or walk the 5K on your own time anywhere you choose -
your neighborhood, favorite course, treadmill, nature trail, or even laps around your home. Regardless of your
location, we hope that you will complete the race with Special Olympics Michigan Area 19 (Jackson County) on your
mind. We certainly will miss the feeling of being together and seeing the smiles on the athlete’s faces.
Your race package will be sent via mail, with the essential items needed to complete the race between Saturday September 28th  and Sunday October 4th.

We encourage all participants to post virtual finish line photos on the Heart of a Lion Facebook event page 

Proceeds from this race will benefit the Jackson Area 19 Special Olympics and will be used to provide year round sports training and athletic competition for persons with intellectual disabilities. All proceeds stay in Jackson, County.

This race is part of the 2020 ORS Race Series

Orthopaedic Rehab Specialists, mid-Michigan’s best physical therapy and sports performance coaching company, presents the ORS Race Series with 10 races of all distances and challenge levels.

The Series’ mission is to provide incentives and opportunities for Jackson and surrounding communities to get fit and active.


This race is endorsed by The Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and part of the  Michigan Fitness Foundation Challenge. The challenge encourages Michiganders to engage with events that promote physical activity, health and wellness. You will receive a FIT point for every endorsed event you participate in or volunteer for from January 1st until December 31st. Points earn cool swag and a chance to win various prizes!
