Join the MICHIGAN STATE POLICE (MSP) on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 9:30 a.m for the 2nd Annual Bolt for the Heart 5K Run/Walk and new for 2020 a 10K Run. Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. his is a family friendly event, all ages and abilities are welcome. The course will be run on the grounds of the MSP training academy and is flat. The Michigan Running Foundation will be on site to provide professional race timing. Results will be posted during the race and online at Playmakers.com.
New this year is the VIRTUAL Bolt for the Heart 5k Run/Walk and 10k run! Details below!
Michigan’s Bolt for the Heart mission is to place an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in each Michigan State Police patrol car, and to provide preventative cardiac screenings for MSP troopers. Proceeds from the event go to support this wonderful cause.

Packet pick up and late registration: Friday, May 15, 2020 between 3:00pm - 6:00pm, or on race day from 8:30am – 9:15am. Packet pick up will be at the MSP Training Academy, located at 7426 N. Canal Rd., Lansing.
T-shirt: Participants registered prior to May 1, 2020 are guaranteed a race t-shirt. T-shirts available after that date as supplies last.
Awards: Medals will be given to all participants. Awards will be given to the overall male and female, overall masters male and female, and the top three individuals in each age group (men and women). Age groups: 0-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79.

If you cannot make the Bolt for the Heart 5K Run/Walk and 10K Run in person, but would still like to support this cause, you can complete the Virtual Bolt for the Heart 5K Run/Walk and 10K Run! A virtual race is a race that can be run (or walked) from any location you choose. You can run, jog, or walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill, at the gym or on the track (or even at another race). You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself. All participants will receive a medal!
What: This is a Virtual race, so you choose your own course and time yourself.
When: Complete your race any time on or before May 16th, 2020! *Medals will ship at the end of May.
Where: You choose the course and you time yourself. E-mail BoltMichigan@michigan.gov with your results. You may include more formal results from your Garmin, treadmill, or other fitness tracking device (although this is not required) all we need is your distance and your time via email.
Why: We want to spread awareness of our mission to place an AED in each MSP patrol car, and to provide for preventative cardiac screenings for troopers.
Cost: The price is $25 and includes a finishers medal. T-shirts are available for $10.

* Free entry is valid until April 30th, then it's a $25 (5k) / $35 (10K) discount off your entry fee with a $50 donation. 5K/10K entry fee will be $5. Valid for the 5K, 10K, and Virtual event.

This race is endorsed by The Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and part of the Michigan Fitness Foundation Challenge. The challenge encourages Michiganders to engage with events that promote physical activity, health and wellness.
