2025 marks the 32nd anniversary of the Capital City River Run—a compilation of family-friendly races that celebrate, build awareness of, and financially support Greater Lansing organizations that promote education, the desire to learn, and healthy lifestyles. This event series provides a premier racing experience, highlighting the natural beauty of Michigan’s capital city and adjoining rivers.
The Capital City River Run makes a real impact within the community, benefiting Impression 5 Science Center and its mission to provide children and families access to science exploration through hands-on exhibits and participatory programming.
Annual races include a Half Marathon, 5K Walk/Run, and the Sohn’s Kid’s Race. All race participants receive a long-sleeve zip up and finishers medal. The race will be chip timed by the Michigan Running Foundation and you can check your results during the race and on the web at Playmakers.com.
The kids races will take place on Saturday, September 20 at 11AM at Impression 5 Science Center. The one mile race will take place on the Lansing River Trail. All participants will be invited to spend the day at the Science Museum and enjoy a pizza party after the event.
The half marathon, and 5K races will start on Michigan Ave in front of the Lansing Center, utilizing Michigan Ave and the Lansing River Trail and will end in front of Rotary Park in downtown Lansing. Both races will start at 8AM on Sunday, September 21.
Packet Pick Up
Packet pick up will take place on Saturday, September 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Impression 5 Science Center in Lansing.
Race day packet pick up will take place at Impression 5 Science Center in Lansing from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.

Greater Lansing Area Race Series
We are excited to be part of the Greater Lansing Area Race Series! This year GLARS features 10 races from the Greater Lansing Area, starting in March and ending in late September. There is no need to register for the Race Series; just participate in the events listed on their website and earn points towards some sweet awards! No sign up necessary! Just look for pacers at the start line and join the group running at your desired pace.

- Q: Where is the best place to park? A: Parking is available and free at both of the Impression 5 Science Center lots, as well as the lot behind the La Fille Gallery. City of Lansing streetside parking is also available.
- Q. Are dogs allowed on the course? A. Not all runners are dogs lovers, so we do not allow them for this event.
- Q. Are strollers allowed on the course? A. Strollers are allowed.
- Q. Will there be runner bag drop? A; Yes, runners can drop their bags at the Sohn Linen Truck on Michigan Ave in front of the Lansing Center before the event and pick it up at Rotary Park after the race.
- Q. Will bathrooms be available on the course? A. Yes, bathrooms are available at the start inside the Lansing Center, at the finish inside the Lansing Shuffle Club and at each of the seven aid stations.
- Q. What will be served at the aid stations? A. Water and Gatorade
- Q. What is the time limit on the half marathon? A. Four hours
