The Capital City River Run makes a real impact within the community, benefiting Impression 5 Science Center and its mission to provide children and families access to science exploration through hands-on exhibits and participatory programming.
Annual races include a Half Marathon, 5K Walk/Run, and the Sohn’s Kid’s Race. All race participants receive a long-sleeve pullover and finishers medal. The event is available as a virtual event, or in-person with open timing (No official start time to eliminate an assembly of a group. Runners and walkers will start when they are able to practice social distancing) The race will be chip timed by the Michigan Running Foundation and you can check your results during the race and on the web at Playmakers.com.

Packet pick-up will take place at Impression 5 Science Center during the following times:
· Saturday, September 19 (7 a.m. to 12 p.m.)
· Sunday, September 20 (6 a.m. to 12 p.m.)
If you are during the event virtually and wish to have your packet shipped to you, please add $8.95 to your order for shipping. Packets will ship starting Monday, September 13.
To purchase an add-on after registration the registrant would log into their profile on RunSignup. Click on Manage Registration and then click on the Add-ons link in the footer of the Manage Registration page.
Q. Will there be water and porta johns on the half marathon course?
A. We will have two aid stations set up with 5 gallon jugs and porta johns available. Participants will pass each station twice. Participants will be able to refill carried hydration containers. No cups will be provided. We will have volunteers sanitizing the containers between uses. The locations are Mt. Hope and the River Trail (approx. mile 3 and 6 1/2) and Clippert and the River Trail (approx. mile 8 1/2 and 9 1/2).
Q. I have already registered and decided to have my packet shipped to me. How do I pay for the shipping?
A. At the bottom of the RunSignUp page, you can add shipping by paying for it in the store. We will cross reference those purchases with registrations when we start the mailing process.
Q. Do you need to know if we are doing the event virtually or in-person?
A. We do not need to know in advance and you can decide which way you want to participate as the event draws near.
Q. If we decide to do the event virtually and want to run the official race courses, when will they be ready.
A. By Saturday, September 18. Aid stations are only available on Sunday, September 19.
Q. Will age group awards be available?
A. Age groups medals are awarded for the top 3 in each age category for both events. Only the in-person, chip timed will be considered. Top 3 overall, masters and grand-masters for each event will be awarded Playmakers gift cards.
Q. If I register multiple people and want the items shipped to me, do I pay $8.95 for each entry?
A. No. We will combine your orders into one. Just add shipping to one of your entries and email me at michellephillipich@gmail.com and I will note it on your registration.
Q. What is the time limit for the half marathon?
A. The time limit is 4 hours if you start by 7:30AM
Q. How do I record my time if I do the event virtually?
A. You can record your time "on your honor" by uploading the finish times using the results tab on the RunSignUp page starting Tuesday, September 15. You may also record that you have completed the event, but not leave a time if you wish.
Q. If I run in person, do I need to record my time?
A. No. The Michigan Running Foundation will record your in-person time for you.
The deferment and refund window closed on September 10 to prepare for packet pick up.
Q. Where should I park for the in person event and where is the official start?
A. You can park at Impression 5 Science Center (River side or street side) and the lot north of the Museum off Museum Dr. The official start line is located at the end of Museum Dr where it meets the river trail. The finish is located at the Lansing City Market on the river trail.
We ask that participants wear masks at all times, until they are walking or running.
Volunteers are required to wear masks at all times.
All activities (packet pick up, finish line, etc) will take place in an open outdoor space.
Restrooms will be made available at Impression 5 Science Center for the start and the City Market at the finish line. Masks will be required for entry.
