Race is cancelled this year.
Please join us for the 9th annual Michigan Remembers 9-11 Fund 5K run/walk. This event is held to remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, including 19 with Michigan connections, and to honor and celebrate the brave men and women across Michigan who protect and serve our communities and nation on a daily basis. This is a family (and pet) friendly event and all are encouraged to attend.
Funds raised by this event will support the programming of the Michigan Remembers 9-11 Fund. This includes sending two Michigan first-responders to New York City for an all-expense paid weekend to compete in the Stephen Siller Foundation National Tunnel to Towers 5K run/walk held at the end of September.
Other programming that the proceeds will benefit include a student remembrance essay contest, first responder recognition programs, and 9/11/01 victim remembrance efforts.
For more information about our organization, please visit our website at www.MichiganRemembers.org.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have changed the location of our event from the Brenke Fish Ladder to Wentworth Park in downtown Lansing. This is the site of the 9-11 memorial, and is located at the northeast corner of Michigan Avenue and Grand Avenue. Street parking is available along Michigan Avenue, Washington Square, Ottawa, and Ionia streets, and is free on the weekends.
We are offering half off of the registration fee to active duty and veteran Military and Public Safety (Police, Fire, and EMS) personnel. Just enter the coupon code "hero" during the checkout process.
If you are a first responder, or a friend or family member of a first responder, please select the department or unit name that you are affiliated with in the fundraising field during signup. If you are the first from a department or unit to sign-up, you can create the team. You will be prompted for this information during the online registration process.
The department or unit with the strongest participation will receive a special recognition. The only way to have your participation counted is to join the team at sign-up, so please encourage everyone affiliated with the team to do so.
The adult registration fee includes a short-sleeve commemorative race day t-shirt. Those who register on or before September 4th are guaranteed a t-shirt. We will do our best to have shirts available for late registrants, but cannot guarantee specific sizing or availability.
T-shirts are not included in the free 13 and under registration, but can be purchased in the store portion of our page if one is desired for those participants. The store can also be used to purchase t-shirts for non-participants. Again, sizing and availability is only guaranteed if ordered by September 4th.
Awards: Top prizes include Lugnuts game tickets and Playmakers gift cards!
Chip timing will be provided by the Michigan Running Foundation. We will be using disposable chips in the bibs. Results will be posted during and after the event.
There is a no refund policy for this event. Refunds will not be issued for any reason, including race-day cancellation due to inclement weather. The race director reserves the right to modify the race course or distance at any point in time to preserve participant safety.
Also note that by registering for this race, you are agreeing to the possibility that you may be photographed and that the photograph may be used in media coverage related to the event or in the Michigan Remembers 9-11 Fund's own race promotional materials or website.
