Runners, walkers, and nature enthusiasts! You are invited to come enjoy the beauty of fall on the trails of Woldumar Nature Center. This year, with the help of @JCI Lansing, our race is completely virtual, so those unable to run in-person are encouraged to participate remotely in their own neighborhood, backyard, treadmill, or local trail.
The Woldumar Nature Association is a Lansing, MI-based nonprofit that engages over 5000 students in outdoor education each year. We believe giving back is natural and now more than ever, we need your support. Woldumar has been hit hard by Covid. Your participation in this event supports quality science education that instills a passion for the natural world in young people and furthers our mission: "To educate people about the natural environment."
Participants of this self-timed event will enjoy the beauty of our prairie, pine forest, wetlands, and hardwood forest as they run along the Grand River on 180 acres protected by the Association. The course is varied natural running surfaces (no pavement), so we encourage you to run cautiously. Leashed pets are permitted on the course. Participants may walk with strollers but should be prepared for steps and varied terrain.
The course will have a few fun selfie stations. We encourage participants to take advantage of these stations and use the hashtags #Woldumartrailrun2020, #givingbackisnatural, and #covidcantstopus for the chance to win a mock award. Those participating from home are also encouraged to upload creative selfies using these hashtags. The virtual event begins Monday, October 26th, and goes through Sunday, November 8th. We will wrap up the event with a one of a kind virtual celebration on Sunday, November 8th.
Each participant will receive a race medallion and a certificate of completion. Mock awards and prizes will be awarded to those who participate in the selfie stations and check-in using our hashtags.
