Description
The Sparkler 5k was created in memory of Felisa Barnes who passed away in October of 2009 in a car accident. The race is called the Sparkler 5k because she always had a glow about her that lit up a room.
The proceeds from event go to the Felisa Barnes Memorial Scholarship Fund which awards two $750 scholarships to graduating students at Mason Senior High.
Due to COVID, our race will be virtual this year. The 5K is free however, we are accepting donations to go towards the scholarship. If you want a shirt, you will have to pay extra to cover shirt cost. You have the option to pick up your shirt or to have your shirt delivered to you (there is an up charge on shipping and handling).
Course:
Option 1 - You can do the 5K anywhere - Please send a screenshot of your 5K to be included in the results.
Option 2 - Run the Sparkler 5K Course in Luna Pier. We have created a Strava Segment of the race course. You can create a free Strava Account to be included in the Race Results! You can download the app and run with your phone or your watch using the app to track your race! Please Title Your Run “Sparkler 5K” on your Strava account. Please use the hashtag #sparkler5k when posting on social media!
