Before we go over a little preview of the course, this 5K is a race that includes trails. Just as our title says, we run trails. Okay our disclaimer has been noted. The event starts and finishes at the Mattawan High School track. The first leg of the race is on paved road leading around to the high school. Once near the front of the high school, the run enters a wooded area for about a half mile. NOTE this is a trail section. A trail that includes grass (sometimes dewy), dirt, sand, gravel sections and possible wet grass/mud. Trails are apart of this course. After exiting the woods (trails), the run continues through the Mattawan grounds on paved surfaces, back to the road and around to the finish line on the track. Food and beverages will be available after the race. Dogs are not allowed on the course. All walkers and participants with strollers will be required to wait until all runners have crossed the start line. Did we mention that this race includes trails? Wildcat Road and Trail 5K just saying. Just so we are totally clear and transparent, this 5K involves trails. ;)
A link to the race results will be posted online here on RunSignUp. In the event of inclement weather, the race may be delayed or cancelled. No refunds will be given.

Proceeds earned from the race will be donated to the Mattawan Public Education Foundation (MPEF) for use toward their brain strong programs for students. In the 2018-19 school year, we held a $125,000 capital campaign for the High School library, spent $20,000 on “Brain Strong” grants for teachers, spent $20,000 on staff and professional development, and spent $16,000 on scholarships to seniors for higher education. Brain strong summarizes the mission of the Mattawan Public Education Foundation: “to strengthen the community through funding unique educational opportunities.”
Check out www.mpef.org and the MPEF Facebook page to see students engaged in these programs or for more information!
