Big Smiles 5K Run/Walk

Join us for The Fifth Annual Big Smiles 5K Run/Walk!

The race is Sunday, July 2nd at 8am EDT in New Buffalo, Michigan, beginning in the parking lot of the New Buffalo Public Beach. Parking is available for free until 9am EDT at the Public Beach, and we will have packet pickup and registration tables on race day setup at Lions Pavilion near the beach from 6:30am-7:45am EDT. We will also have registration open and packet pickup on Friday, June 30th from 12:00pm-6:00pm EDT at Equilibrium Fitness (705 W Buffalo St. New Buffalo, MI 49117 - Across from St. Mary's Church).

The course is certified through the USATF and RRCA, it is an UP and BACK through Sunset Shores, and has prizes and trophies for the Overall Male and Female Winners in both of the UNDER 50 and OVER 50 Divisions. AGE DIVISIONS (Same as Last Year): 8 & Under, 9-11, 12-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. The top three male and female finishers in each age division will get an award or medal.

We will also have post-race entertainment, snacks, refreshments, and an Award Ceremony in the park by Lions Pavilion beginning around 9:30am EDT.

The Big Smiles 5K Run/Walk was started in honor of Kristen Heimbach who was tragically killed in a car accident in 2008. Kristen was a Special Education teacher in New Buffalo, Michigan and Michigan City, Indiana. Proceeds from the race are donated to the Dreaming Big Fund and to the Logan Center in South Bend, Indiana to help children with special needs, especially those with autism. Kristen was an amazing person with an infectious smile and personality, we are honored to be running for her and such a great cause.
