MCMBA Singletrack Slam (Virtual Challenge)

What is this? 

• The MCMBA Singletrack Slam is a chance to challenge yourself and ride all 12 Motor City Mountain Bike Association trail systems in 1 riding season (over 100 miles!)

How does this work?

• Sign up here between now and the Tree Farm Relay on July 27th - be sure to enter your correct long sleeve shirt size and the profile names you'll be posting from!
• Ride the 12 official MCMBA trail systems this season (April 15 to September 30), alone or with friends
• Post a picture or video of you, your bike (or running gear), or you + your bike (or a selfie) on the trail to one of our social media outlets. If social media isn't your thing, you can submit your photos via text or email
• Have fun!
• Collect the shirt you earned at a MCMBA Singletrack Slam party in November. There will also be awards for the best pictures per trail along with a few other awards TBD. 

In order to receive proper credit for riding all or part of a trail, your post must include, at minimum, 3 tags: #MCMBA, #MCMBASingletrackSlam, and the following hashtag for that trail system:

• #HinesMTB
• #LegacyMTB
• #LakeshoreMTB

Where do I send the photos or videos?

We encourage you to post in all your usual places so your friends can rally you on, but you'll need to post in at least one of the following places in order for that ride to count toward the challenge:

• Facebook -  Post them to the MCMBA Singletrack Slam group and include the 3 challenge hashtags
• Instagram or TikTok - Tag @motor_city_mba and include the 3 challenge hashtags
• Text slam@mcmba.org from the phone number you registered and include the trail hashtag only
• Email slam@mcmba.org from the address you registered with the trail hashtag as the subject line

What if I don't complete all 12 trails?

We are not collecting Strava traces, we only want you give each of these trail systems a go, and ride what you can, or can navigate. But remember, this is a challenge, so feel free to push your comfort zone and try something new! If you cannot complete all 12 trail systems, then no shirt for you!  However, some grace will be given for extenuating circumstances.   

What if I am a runner or trail walker?

Feel free to join, just send a selfie of you (or your shoes, or your water bottle) at the trail with the same hashtags! We are glad you are joining us! 

Can the Milford Bike Fest and Tree Farm Relay count towards completed trails?

Of course!

Why is this a thing?

We want to raise awareness of the diversity and fun factor of our trails.  We want people to know about how their membership money and donations are put to good use in the 100 miles of trail the MCMBA maintains.  We also want to introduce more people to our amazing trails, and hopefully build a little community with people joining up for rides.  We hope also that our Facebook Page would be a place where riders can organize group rides at our trails.

What if I ride a trail system multiple times?

Every photo or video you post and tag for the challenge will count towards the 'best of' prizes, but riding a trail multiple times will only count for completing that trail. If you ride Hines twice, you can't use one of the 'extra' rides to count towards another trail.

Can I view what I have already completed?

We will put a link to a spreadsheet on the MCMBA Singletrack Slam Event Page and update it periodically.
