Tough Genes DNA Dash 2025

Join us on Saturday, September 13th 2025 for the 1st annual DNA Dash 5k run and fun walk presented by Tough Genes. 

Founded by parents of a child with IRF2BPL-Related Disorder, Tough Genes is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge and medical understanding of the IRF2BPL gene. Our mission is based upon raising awareness and funds for IRF2BPL-Related Disorder research. We strive to transform lives by driving breakthroughs in science, increasing awareness, and securing the resources necessary to find treatment and improve the quality of life for those impacted by this disorder. We have THREE different race formats!  -- An in person, timed race  -- An in person, fun run/walk  -- A virtual run/walk allowing you to participate from anywhere!

5K YOUR WAY! Timed, fun walk, virtual, it is up to you how you would like to participate!

Virtual DNA Dash

If you can't make the race and still want to participate, sign up for the virtual race and we will mail your race shirt! Run your virtual race any time. Cost is the same as the in-person event and includes shipping within the US. There are no awards for the virtual event, however you can enter your results after you complete your run/walk if you wish.

In Person Race Details

9:00am -- Packet Pickup Opens

9:50am -- Welcome message

10:00am -- Timed 5k race begins

10:05am -- Fun run/walk 5k begins

11:30am -- Awards Ceremony

12:00pm -- Raffles Close and Drawings Begin

Pricing

Registration is $35 for those over age 10,  $40 on Race Day (race shirt not guaranteed)

Awards

Overall Male and Overall Female winner prizes for the 5k timed race (prizes subject to increase)

Runner up Male and Runner up Female prizes for the 5k timed race

Age groups for the 5k Race: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & up

Award ceremony will be held at 11:30 am, following the race

*Please note virtual participants are not eligible for awards. 

Results

Results will be live during the event and posted on the Run Signup page.

The race is professionally timed by Second Sole Toledo Race Services.
