Super Hero Fun Run

The Kalamazoo County Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Council will hold its annual Super Hero 5k Run/Walk on Saturday, September 26 at Celery Flats in Portage.

It will start at 9 am and the course travels east on Garden Lane, north on Lovers Lane, west on Romence Road, and finishes through the nature trail.

Traffic will be limited briefly at the following areas:
9:15 am Garden Lane east of the railroad tracks and Kingston between  Garden Lane & Drury
9:30 am Between Ludgate & Upper Darby

The Kalamazoo Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention Council (KCAN) aims to reduce the incidents of child abuse in several ways:

• Kids Are Special teaches children short, simple techniques to protect themselves in unsafe situations
• Train professionals who work with children about the signs of child abuse and how to ensure proper reporting of their suspicions
• Strengthen families through publication of the local Family Help Book, a guide to local resources to help ease their struggles
