New Date: September 6, 2021

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the cancellation of the 2020 Labor Day Bridge Walk by the Mackinac Bridge Authority, Michigan Fitness Foundation has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Labor Day Bridge Run. The health and safety of our participants is our first priority. We are offering a few different options for those participants that are registered.

Description

Known as the Mighty Mac, the Mackinac Bridge is the longest suspension bridge in the western hemisphere and the fifth longest suspension bridge in the world. Just picture yourself and your fellow runners making your way across the Mackinac Bridge. Imagine for a moment - the sounds of seagulls flying above, ferry boat horns and waves crashing on the shoreline below, views of Mackinac Island and vast Great Lakes Vistas alongside you, the sun rising and washing the sky with glorious shades of orange...this is the Labor Day Mackinac Bridge Run, and it is the only running event on the Mackinac Bridge.

The non-competitive run is organized by the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports, Michigan Fitness Foundation, Michigan Department of Transportation and the Mackinac Bridge Authority. Taking place before Labor Day Bridge Walk, the run is limited to 700 participants. At a minimum, runners are expected to run at least a 12-minute mile and must be able to finish the entire 4.3 miles. It is important to note, this is not a timed event and the course is not certified for distance.

Registration includes bus transportation from Mackinaw City Recreation Center to the start line in St. Ignace, technical tee shirt, finisher medal and a race bib.

***This is the only running event on the Mackinac Bridge. This if a fun run, therefore, the race is not chip timed.
