Chasing the Cure for Ovarian Cancer

About This Event:

This event is dedicated to Joan Dykstra who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2008. She is a great inspiration to all that know her...she always has a smile on her face and a great attitude towards life no matter what hand she has been dealt. From 2010-2014, all proceeds from this event were used to fund research, support public awareness and help people recognize early signs and symptoms of this disease through our partnership with Gynecologic Oncology Group, a national, non profit organization.

In 2016, we're excited to partner with another non profit organization right here in Michigan! The Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MIOCA) promotes saving women’s lives through the early detection of ovarian cancer and improved treatment outcomes. In addition to community outreach and education, MIOCA provides advocacy, resources and support throughout Michigan. We're looking forward to making a big impact in ovarian cancer advocacy here in our home state.

Taking part in one of our events for Chasing the Cure is your opportunity to do something very meaningful and have lots of fun. Help us battle ovarian cancer and capture the spirit of women we know and love who are fighting for their lives.

Race Schedule and Times:

• Friday Packet Pickup:  6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
• Saturday Packet Pickup: 7:45 am - 8:30 am
• 5K Run/Walk Race Time:  9:00 am
• 1 Mile Fun Run Race Time:  9:05 am

Race Fees: 

Early Registration: Until August 28, 2016

• 5K Run/Walk - $20.00
• 5K Pump and Run $25.00
• 1 Mile Fun Run - $15.00

Pre-Registration: August 29, 2016 to September 17, 2016

• 5K Run/Walk - $25.00
• 5K Pump and Run - $30.00
• 1 Mile Fun Run - $20.00

Same Day Registration: 

• 5K Run/Walk - $30.00
• 1 Mile Fun Run - $25.00

Awards and Age Categories:

• Awards will be given to the Top Overall Male and Female finishers
• Age class awards will be given to the top 3 in each of the following categories:  9 & Under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & Over

Tee Shirts:

• Tee Shirts will be guaranteed to participants who register on/or before September 4, 2016.   Registration after September 4th will be available on a "First Come First Serve" basis during packet pickup.
• Technical tee shirts are available during registration for an extra $5.00 charge.  Cotton tee shirts are no additional charge.

Timing and Scoring:

• Timing and Scoring will be done by Mac's Sports Timing.  Results will be displayed during the event and posted to online results immediately after the race @  www.macssportstiming.com
