Packet pick up will be on September 18 from 4:00-6:00pm at Brady's on the back patio. Brady's is located at 401 S Union St, Traverse City, MI 49684.

Weather Policy:

Rain or Shine Event

The 5K will take place rain or shine. Participants should plan accordingly and be prepared for changing

weather conditions.

The safety of our participants, volunteers, staff, and spectators is our highest priority. If thunderstorms,

lightning, high winds, extreme temperatures, or other severe weather conditions create an unsafe

environment, event organizers will monitor conditions and determine the safest course of action.

Lightning Policy – 60-30 Rule

The event will follow the 60-30 Rule for lightning safety.

If lightning is observed and thunder is heard within 60 seconds, the event will be considered at risk for

lightning activity. At that time, event organizers will delay or suspend the event, and participants,

volunteers, staff, and spectators may be directed to seek shelter in the parking deck off of 8th Street or

another designated safe location.

The event will remain delayed or suspended until at least 30 minutes have passed since thunder was

last heard. If additional lightning and thunder are observed during the waiting period, the 30-minute

period will restart.

Event organizers will continue to monitor weather conditions throughout the delay and will determine

whether it is safe to resume the event. If severe weather conditions persist or conditions are determined to

be unsafe, the event may be postponed or canceled.

Severe Weather Procedures

Depending on the severity and timing of the weather, organizers may:

Continue the event as scheduled if conditions are determined to be safe.

Temporarily delay or suspend the start of the event until conditions improve.

Direct participants, volunteers, and spectators to seek shelter in the parking deck off of 8th

Street or another designated safe location.

Postpone the event for a specified period while weather conditions are monitored.

Cancel the event if conditions are determined to be unsafe or are not expected to improve within a

reasonable timeframe.

Participants should follow all instructions from event organizers, staff, volunteers, and public safety

personnel. Participants should not remain on the course during an active lightning or severe weather

threat.

Weather-related decisions will be made by event organizers in consultation with appropriate public safety

personnel and weather information and forecasts. Decisions will be communicated as quickly as possible

through event staff, public announcements, and the event's official communication channels.

There will be no refunds due to weather-related delays, postponements, or cancellations. By

registering for the event, participants acknowledge and agree to this weather policy and understand that

weather conditions may require changes to the event schedule or format for safety reasons.
