Think back over the last few years. Now imagine -- how would you have managed if you didn't have clean water?

This question has led International Samaritan to add "ensuring families have clean water" to the list of things we provide in garbage dump communities around the world. We kicked off this initiative by bringing two wells to Kore, Ethiopia and multi-year water filters to families across Central America.

This year, we're running the IntSam Global 5K for a very special cause: to bring a new community well to Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

We need your help to succeed in this massive undertaking. So get ready, assemble your friends, family, coworkers, church, or classmates, and run to change lives!

How much does it cost for the well?

The cost to bring a well to Tegucigalpa -- and therefore our fundraising goal -- is $250K. Yes, you read that right: it's double what our goal was last year. But we're confident that together we can make the Tegucigalpa community's dream become a reality.

Why water?

The life-changing power of clean water can't be overstated. We've already seen the power of clean water in Koshe, Ethiopia. Watch the video to the right to see how bringing a well to the community changed their lives.

How does the race work?

The IntSam Global 5K is a virtual 5K run or 1 mile walk that can take place anywhere in the world, between Oct.15th-Nov. 1st. Participants run/walk any 5K/1M route and log their time on race profile webpage. This event is both a race and a fundraiser for bringing clean water to Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

Who's running?

Not only are we forming teams all around the world to run for this cause, but International Samaritan's scholars around the world are also running to support their peers in Honduras. Learn more about International Samaritan's mission at

How can I help?

Sign up! Running or walking, you can make a difference. You can make an even greater impact by bringing others into the race with you, which is why we're encouraging everyone to form teams of 5-10 people. You can also purchase a race t-shirt, which will help support the water project. Lastly, if you're able, you can also become a race sponsor (or encourage your workplace, school, or church to sponsor us).

What else should I know?

Sign up soon if you're a fan of stickers! In honor of the $250K we need to raise, we're giving our first 250 registrants a special version of our race sticker. We also are sending a special thank you to any team that raises $1,000 or more.
