Forget boring races. This one comes with a banana suit, a charging Gorilla, and a whole lot of fun.

The Going Bananas Run Duluth is a wildly entertaining charity fun run where hundreds of participants take over the streets of Duluth dressed as—you guessed it—bananas! Whether you’re a serious runner, a casual jogger, a family of walkers, or just here for the fun, this approximately two-mile event is made for everyone.

Your registration gets you everything you need to join the banana invasion: entry to the race, your very own banana suit to wear and keep, the Gorilla Challenge, and access to the post-race celebration.

Come race for time. Come hang out with friends. Bring the kids. Walk the course. Take ridiculous photos. However you choose to participate, the mission is the same: get moving, have a blast, and help support a local cause.

Think you can outrun a Gorilla?

Every banana gets a two-minute head start. Then The Gorilla is released onto the course—and the chase is on!

Make it to the finish line before the Gorilla and you’ll earn the legendary “I Beat the Gorilla” finisher prize.

But don’t sweat it if the Gorilla catches you. Beating the Gorilla is a bonus, not a requirement. The challenge is all about adding an extra dose of excitement—and helping generate additional donations for a local nonprofit along the way.

Your only job is to have fun and finish at your own pace.

After the run, the party continues! Stick around for post-race activities, recognition, food and beverages, sponsor activities, and plenty of time to celebrate with hundreds of your newest banana friends.

The Going Bananas Run launched in Duluth with more than 430 participants in its first year. Now we're going bigger—with a goal of bringing together more than 1,000 bananas and raising even more money for the local community.
