Save Your Colors!
1) After the Race change out of your colored gear asap!
Place it carefully in a bag (try to not shake off the loose powder) When you get home you can complete the setting process.
2) Lay shirt flat and soak with white vinegar
using a spray bottle make sure the shirt is covered in vinegar. The colors may blend and bleed together as they get wet. The vinegar can also fade the screen printing.
3) Keep flat to Dry then Iron
Leave shirt laying flat until completely dry. Then place a towel/rag between the shirt and the iron (on high) to set the color.
4) Toss in the Dryer
As final insurance to set the colors, turn the shirt inside out and run through the dryer for approximately 10 minutes on high heat.
FAQ
Color Powder Safety and Clean Up
Is Color Powder Safe?
Safety is our main priority! Colors are made with high quality cornstarch, food dyes and baking soda. All materials are 100% FD&C and/or D&C grade and approved by the US FDA. However color powder is not designed for consumption.
Does Color Powder Contain Gluten?
Color powder is gluten free.
Is Color Powder harmful if you inhale it?
Although all the materials are food grade it is not recommend to inhale large quantities of color powder. It is recommended to wear a bandanna or dust mask to prevent inhaling it. Anyone who has asthma, is allergic to any of the ingredients or has any respiratory issues should exercise caution when participating in color powder events.
Does Color Powder Stain Clothing?
Color powder washes out of most clothing. However, it can stain some materials. 100% cotton clothing is recommended and typical machine washing with stain remover, removes the stains. We recommend removing excess powder from clothing before washing and/or applying water.A tumble through the washing machine generally will work. Color Powder washes out of MOST clothing but since not all fabrics have been tested for this , you may want to leave your favorite running clothes at home.
• Dust off or blow off as much powder as possible before washing. You may want to wash your color branded gear separately in cold water. If it doesn’t wash out the first time, don’t put it in the dryer and try some stain remover or bleach (white clothes only) the second time around.
Does Color Powder Stain Skin or Hair?
Wondering how to get color powder off of your skin and hair after the run? Follow these instructions:
• Dust off or blow off as much powdered paint as possible.
• Color powder washes right out! Just take a shower, grab a bar of soap and some shampoo and you should be set!
•.If you are worried about staining, we recommend applying a moisturizer to skin. If you have light colored hair – sometimes the colors can have a little bit more staying power! It will wash out in a few days. To avoid the whole problem you may want to wear a hat and/or a bandanna or try oiling your hair with Coconut oil before the race.
