Description

Due to the unique situation that COVID-19 has created in our lives, the race directors have cautiously re-designed some of the aspects of this race, thanks to much support and advisement from professional and experienced experts. All participants should read and be prepared to respectfully follow each aspect of this event's description:

Amended Course:   *The Start/Finish Line is at Hawk Creek Country Club, just beyond the NW corner of the clubhouse.

*Runners are asked to choose a staggered start time (between 7:45 and 8:00 a.m.) and arrive at the starting line area (look for posted start time signs) 10 min. prior to that time, wearing their bib and being mindful of social distancing etiquette/care. Race Directors, Events Timer, and Race Volunteers will be wearing masks. Please also wear a mask when not running, if a 6 ft. distance between others is not possible. Restroom facilities are minimal, so try to plan accordingly.

*Still primarily grass & gravel, this is a new trail route with familiar segments from previous years. It winds along and over Hawk Creek within the golf course setting (bypassing the Raymond Nature Trail this year).

*There will be 10 oz. bottled water available as a “grab-n-go”  refreshment near the 2-mile mark. All other refreshments will be handed out during race packet pick-up on Fri., Aust 21st, 8am - 7pm at Hawk Creek Country Club.  Contact the race director if unable to pick up race packet on 8/22:     bkhauser2@gmail.com

*Runners are asked to bring their race packet refreshments with them on race day to refuel after the race.

Team Contests: Registrations must be online or sent in together to qualify for either category:

-Fastest Team: Average time for top two runners from each team. Top 3 teams will be awarded RAR sweat towels.

-Largest Team: RAR sweat towels will be given to the team with the most participants who register by 8/14!

Awards:   *All runners will receive a coupon in their race packet to golf the course they have just Run (2 green fees for the price of one).

**Announced from the clubhouse deck, the awards will be handed out in front of the fountain, just beyond the deck. Runners are welcomed to stay and wait for the awards at the conclusion of the race, provided that runners remember to follow social distance guidelines.

COVID-19 Specifics: This link, which is specifically noted in the waiver, should be read and followed by each participant:  https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/prevention.htm

Special Notes for "Mask Up, Minnesota" and CDC Compliance

Rather than cancelling this run, the Race Director has spent many hours consulting with valued "experts" in this field to cautiously - and joyfully-  hold this event, while adhering to guidelines and mandates. Please follow all of the guidelines ( https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/prevention.html ), mandates ( https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/coronavirus/facecover.html ) & expectations with us, AND respect the Timer, Volunteers, and Race Directors, who will all be wearing masks. If any of these procedures cause you to feel negatively, simply "sit this one out":

  1. There will be no race day registrations. Last chance to register online or by paper form is Thursday, August, August 20 by 4:00 pm.
  2. Race packet pick-up will be on Fri., Aust 21st, 8am - 7pm at Hawk Creek Country Club. Masks will need to be worn when entering the clubhouse. Any paid & registered participant who is not able to arrange for this timing should email the race director prior to that date to make special arrangements. No walk-in registrations will be accepted on Friday, 8/21 (as well as on race day). Disposable masks will be available to purchase for $1 at the door.
  3. Runners are asked to arrive at the starting line area (look for posted start time signs) 10 min. prior to that time, wearing their bib (found in their race packet with pins) and being mindful of social-distancing etiquette/care. Runners are not expected to wear a mask while running (thus, the 4 waves of start times); they could plan ahead and have a labeled container to put their non-disposable mask in right before the race begins, but there will also be a container for disposable masks.
  4. Restroom facilities are minimal, so try to plan accordingly. Masks must be worn if entering the clubhouse to use those 2-stall restrooms. There is one porta-potty located near to the start line.
  5. There will be 10 oz. bottled water available as a “grab-n-go”  refreshment near the 2-mile mark. All other refreshments will be handed out during the race packet pick-up on 8/21. Runners are asked to bring their race packet refreshments with them on race day to refuel after the race; no refreshments will be handed out on race day.
  6. After the conclusion of the race, the various category winners will be announced from the clubhouse deck, and the awards will be handed out in front of the fountain, just beyond the deck. Depending on the amount and spacing of people gathering for the awards, this may very well be a time for all of us to wear our masks again. Volunteers who are handing out the awards will be wearing masks. Runners who do not wish to stay for the awards will still receive them at a later date. The race director will either mail or deliver them within that next upcoming week. The Largest Team sweat towels will be handed out to one of the team members during race packet pick-up on 8/21.
  7. Thank you, in advance, to all of the dedicated runners who will bring positive attitudes with them for this event! This Race Director has often been proud to be included in the community of runners - all who are often described as being positive, respectful, caring, humane, compassionate problem-solvers!! Let's celebrate the joys of running!!
