O'Gara's Irish Run is where the Irish celebrate in St. Paul, MN. The event includes an 8K, 5K, and Half Mile Kids Run. All events are run on Selby Ave, starting and finishing near the former and future home of O'Gara's Bar and Grill at the corner of Snelling and Selby Avenues. The 8K and 5K are run on USATF Certified courses, with the 8K once again serving as the USATF Minnesota 8K Championship. The 8K and 5K also feature chip timing by Mtec.
Special thanks go to our sponsor, Whole Foods for stepping up while the NEW O'Gara's is under construction. In 2019 Whole Foods will serve as our race headquarters, with packet pick-up, warm-up, and sweat drop facilities.
The 8K is the USATF Minnesota championship and as such it is a fairly competitive race with several USATF Minnesota Team Circuit participants joining the field. The is a time limit to finish the 8K - participants must be able to maintain a 12.5 minute/mile pace.
The 5K is a family friendly, fun run and costumes are encouraged.
The Half Mile kids run is also out and back so there are plenty of opportunities for cheering on the participants. All finishers in the Half Mile receive a medal. There is also an option to include the race shirt with your registration.
Early race bib and shirt pick-up will be available on Thursday, March 7 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Run N Fun, 868 Randolph Ave, St. Paul, MN 55102. All you need is your name. It is also possible to pick up packets for other runners at this time - you just need their name.
Race day packet pick-up will open at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 9 and be available until 9:45 a.m. We will be located inside the Whole Foods Parking Ramp. Whole Foods is on the northeast corner of Selby and Snelling. PLEASE note that there is no race parking inside the ramp/lot. Whole Foods has graciously allowed us to use their space while O’Gara’s Bar is being rebuilt. Please respect their request as the parking is reserved for Whole Foods customers.
