Description
The 2nd Annual Emma Marie Aronson 5K Run/Walk & Kids Race will be held at Waterfall Park in Independence on October 22, 2016 at 8:00am. Emma Marie Aronson was only 17 when her heart stopped beating. She went into SCA (sudden cardiac arrest). There were no warning signs the week prior to her passing. SCA is often a silent killer as there are usually no signs or symptoms. This race is to raise awareness of SCA in young athletes and the funds raised are used for heart screening athletes with our partners at Saint Luke's East Athletic Heart Clinic(SLAHC) Emma was very athletic up until the moment she took her last breath. She was an "all or nothing" teen! She was on fire for God and loved sharing her faith and caring for people! . She loved playing basketball . She was a fierce competitor on the court for Lee's Summit High School. She lived and loved everyday as if it were her last! Her "big heart" for God and other people is ultimately what took her life on June 5th, 2015.
Proceeds from this race go back into the community and are used for heart screening athletes with our partners at Saint Luke's East Hospital and their Athletic Heart Clinic!
