LPRF Glow in the Park 5K
Event Description
Join us for our inaugural Glow in the Park 5K on Saturday, September 12, 2026 supporting the Liberty Parks & Rec Foundation (LPRF) Youth Scholarship Program. This new family fun run invites runners of all ages and abilities to enjoy an evening on the trail! Our course starts at the Liberty Community Center at 8 p.m. and continues through Westboro/Canterbury Park. Be sure to wear your brightest race gear and add some glowing accessories to light up the night!
The funds raised through the Glow in the Park 5K go directly to support the scholarship program to ensure no child is turned away due to their inability to pay.
The Liberty Parks & Rec Foundation was established in 2006 to create a parks expansion fund for neighborhood parks, green space and to provide financial assistance to aid low-income youth and families to access programs and Liberty Community Center memberships through scholarship assistance. Since the scholarship program began in 2009, the Liberty Parks & Rec Foundation has been able to provide more than $353,174 in scholarships assisting 3,685 individuals.
By participating in the Glow in the Park 5K, you’re doing more than having fun—you’re helping ensure that every child in our community has the opportunity to play, learn, and thrive with Liberty Parks & Rec.
Take on the Visit Liberty 5K Series, a three-race challenge focused on fitness, fun, and community impact. Each event supports a local nonprofit, so every mile you run helps make a difference. Participants of all ages and abilities are invited to join the fun and complete all three races throughout 2026.
Runners who finish the series including the Liberty Hospital Foundation’s Run Liberty on 3/28/2026, the Liberty Parks & Rec Foundation’s Glow in the Park 5K, and the Hillcrest Hope Giving Thanks 5K on 11/26/2026 to earn an exclusive series finisher prize—custom BibBoards—to celebrate your accomplishment and commitment to both fitness and the Liberty community.
Sign up here to express your interest in the series. This list will be cross referenced with participants from each of the three races to verify completion before mailing the series completion prizes in December 2026.
