Description
Maryville University’s Go The Distance Race is back and birthday-themed in celebration of Maryville’s 150th anniversary! Join us in-person on Sunday, September 25, for the Piece of Cake 3K (featuring a cupcake celebration at the finish line) followed by the all-new hilariously exciting Cupcake Relay! Can’t make it to campus? Sign up for the Virtual Piece of Cake 3K and race from anywhere during Homecoming Week. All proceeds from the race support Maryville student-athletes in their quest to reach their academic finish line.
Race Parking
Racers should enter campus from the north via Conway Road. Make a right at the first stop sign by Saints Hall. Make a right at the next stop sign and park near Buder Commons and the Hilltop Apartments.
Piece of Cake 3K Information
Race Overview: This race is designed to be a fun activity that can be completed at each individual's chosen speed, with awards for the winners and cupcakes for everyone at the finish line. The Piece of Cake 3K will kick off not only this year's Go The Distance Race festivities, but also Maryville's 2022 Homecoming Week.
Course Description: The Piece of Cake 3K will start and finish in front of the Soccer Field Pavilion on the Maryville campus. The course features fantastic views as racers complete two laps around Maryville University Drive; including a loop through the heart of campus on the second lap. The entire race will take place on pavement or sidewalk (wheelchair and stroller friendly).
Cupcake Relay Information
Race Overview: New for 2022, the Cupcake Relay is a 4-person team relay race with a frosting-covered twist! During each 200 meter leg, racers will need to fully consume a cupcake before carrying an oversized, inflatable cupcake baton to their next teammate or the finish line.
